Chapter 82: Chapter 82: A Way Out

[Jasmine’s POV]

“I’m so thirsty,” Isabella whispered.

An hour had passed since Isabella had woken up, but the guards hadn’t come back yet. Neither had Gareth or his men.

“I know, me too,” I said, my mouth almost as dry as sandpaper. “But we have to remember that we’re much safer if our kidnappers think we’re asleep. Why don’t you try to fall asleep, and when you wake up, your father will be here to rescue us, okay?”

Silent tears fell down her pale cheeks, but she nodded bravely and shut her eyes.

After a few moments, her breathing evened out. As Isabella fell asleep, her terrified tears dried on her face.

I knew that I should take my own advice and try to sleep too. If those assholes came back, my unconsciousness would be much more convincing if I was actually sleeping. And I should probably attempt to conserve what little strength I had left.

But I couldn’t bring myself to close my eyes. Despite the silver chains weakening me, adrenaline was flowing through my body. It went against my survival instincts to sleep when there were threats close by.

Throughout the night, I checked Isabella’s head wound, which seemed to be healing, but it was hard to tell with her dark, matted hair around the injury.

I also tried to look for a way out.

Quietly, I crept around the silver cage, trying to find any weakness in the steel or a way to escape that I hadn’t thought of. Since our kidnappers assumed that we would be unconscious for the most part, they might not have been as cautious with our prison cell.

But my search was pointless. I tried not to let my hopelessness crush me because the truth was, if Gareth and his warriors didn’t come soon, Isabella and I would be dead by morning.

Hours passed, and the sun had to be close to rising. I kept my eyes on the door, praying to the Moon Goddess that Gareth and his guards were about to come bursting in.

But the next sound I heard was heavy footsteps.

The kidnappers were back.

Quickly, I arranged Isabella, so she was in the same position she was last time they were here. Then, I propped myself up against the wall and lolled my head to the side. I forced myself to relax my breathing just like last time.

“Oh, what the hell!” one of the rogues complained when they walked in.

“How can they still be sleeping?” another asked frustratedly. “We should check if they’re still breathing. Maybe John gave them too much wolfsbane.”

“What if they’re faking?” suggested the one with the deepest voice.

Cold sweat ran down the back of my neck as a pair of footsteps neared our cell. I heard a key being put into a lock and the door being swung upon.

Rough hands grabbed my shoulders, and the smell of cigarette smoke assaulted my nose. I willed myself to keep my breathing steady and my eyes closed. I had to act like a rag doll. But that was hard when the rogue began to roam his hands over my body.

His touch wasn’t like before when they had just checked my pulse. His rough hands ran down my chest, cupped the undersides of my breasts, and traveled to my stomach.

Nausea crept up my throat, and I wanted more than anything to rip this asshole’s throat out. But to keep Isabella and I alive, I had to just sit there and pretend that I was asleep.

“This one’s got some nice curves,” the rogue wolf above me said as his large hands squeezed my hips.

I fantasized about kneeing him in the balls to make myself feel better.

Then, I heard more footsteps coming into our cell. The two other rogues seemed to be above Isabella.

“This one’s a pretty little thing too,” another muttered.

“Why don’t we have some fun with these two bitches before we kill them?” the third suggested. “It would be a shame to let two banging bodies go to waste. What do you say, boys?”

Panic coursed through me.

“Hell yeah!” The rogue above me pulled the bottom of my dress up. “The people who hired us didn’t say anything against it. We will still be paid the rest of our money and we can have some fun.”

The three of them laughed obnoxiously and the sound was like knives being thrust into my ears.

This couldn’t be happening.

I heard movement next to me and I knew the other two men were now touching Isabella.

Then, the worst thing possible happened.

“Jasmine?” Isabella muttered sleepily.

Shit!

My head spun with panic. I had no idea what the hell to do.

“We’ve got a live one over here, Sebastian!" one of the rogues near Isabella said. “She’s waking up. But I honestly prefer it. I like it when they fight back.”

“What the fuck do you think you’re doing?” Isabella screamed. “Get your hands off of me!” She paused and I could feel her eyes on me even though mine were still shut. “And keep your hands off of her!”

“We’re just getting started,” a rogue said. “Now, lie back and be a good girl for me. Or you can fight. I like my women a little feisty.”

“Stay away from me!” Isabella yelled and I heard her scrambling away from them. “I’m the Lycan King’s daughter! If you touch me, he’s going to torture you until you’re begging for death.”
