Robert’s face darkened further, and he muttered under his breath, “Georgia, what’s your problem? Pretending to be in a car accident is one thing, but now you’re not even replying to my messages.”
He then opened his contact list and, unable to resist, called me again.
Still, no one answered.
Frustrated, Robert slammed his phone down on the table.
I stood there, watching him with disappointment.
After all, I was already gone. How could I possibly reply to his messages or answer his call?
I never expected that even now, Robert still didn’t believe me.
He thought I was lying.
He didn’t believe I was truly dead.
Just then, Robert suddenly stood up from the sofa and said, “I should go to the hospital.”
My heart tightened. Was he finally going to the hospital?
But in the next moment, Molly clutched her head and let out a pained scream.
Hearing her scream, Robert turned around in panic, rushing to check on her. “Molly, what’s wrong?”
Molly leaned against Robert’s chest, trembling as she weakly said, “I just remembered those moments when my ex-husband abused me when I was abroad.”
