"The place is beautiful, and the food is delicious." The food had been really good while they had plenty of options for food I had decided to get the grilled salmon as well as Ryan, and Liz ate the Chicken Parmesan.
"But I think you and Ryan like each other, so I don't know how good it will be to work with someone you like." If I had water in my mouth there is no doubt in my mind that I would have spit it out.
All throughout lunch I struggled to not drool. Not only his perfect body but how smart and articulate his was. I loved nothing more than a smart and handsome man.
While I did find him extremely attractive, I doubt he would feel the same way. I was just average looking and he, well he was like a model straight off a billboard. I rolled my eyes at her in an attempt to brush her accusation off. "Our relationship is completely platonic and professional."
"Right." She responded sarcastically. "Anyways I have to go, the kids should be getting home soon." She opens her wallet.
"Go ahead I'll pay." She nodded but still place a ten dollars bill down as a tip. "I'll see you later." She hugged me and exit the restaurant.
Since my dad had died and I had gone off on Liz she had grown up a lot. She had gotten a new job at a corporate business as an executive assistant and she had moved into a better neighborhood and had been spending less times in clubs and more with her children.
"It's on the house." The waiter told me as he began cleaning off the table.
"What?"
He paused and turned towards me. "Ryan will take care of the bill."
"You sure?" I asked.
"Positive." He smiled.
How nice of him.
"Is Willie still here?" I asked as I searched the restaurant for him.
"No, he left with Ryan. Is there anything else I can help you with?"
I shook my head 'no'. "Thank Ryan for me. Other than that I'm fine. Have a nice day." I grabbed my bag and exited The Red Café and headed back to the restaurant where I would spend the rest of my night working and worried about what was going on with Ryan.
What has gotten into me?
ALPHA RYAN
"What happen?" I asked Tyler.
When Willie relayed the message to me that something bad had happened at the pack house I quickly shifted and ran all the way home leaving my car still parked in the parking lot of The Red Café.
"James was doing rounds when he got attacked by two rogues," I growled.
James was a middle-aged pack wolf that had acted as my bodyguard growing up. He took Lily and me to school every morning until I was able to drive and had even accompanied me on many of my quest to find my mate.
"Of course." She promised.
"Mind link me if there's any news," I told the nurse before leaving the hospital and heading to the pack underground cells.
"Where is he?" I asked the guards.
"Third floor." I nodded.
When I got to the third floor there was a strong stench of blood and vomit.
"Who sent you?" I heard Tyler ask.
"Fuck you!" He coughed.
"I'm gonna-." Tyler was just about to attack him when I walked in. The rogue was tied up with blood dripping from his mouth and puke on the floor next to them.
"Tyler, take a walk." He turned around and glared at me. His eyes turned dark telling me that his wolf was at bay. When it came to interrogating rogues you had to maintain your cool or they could get under your skin and make you react impulsively. "Now!" I ordered.
"Fine." He growled out before exiting the room. Tyler had also had a strong bond with James and he getting attacked definitely had an effect on him.
