James and my father were very close and he had one of the most important jobs, to protect the Alpha's and Beta's family.
"Already done," I responded proudly.
"You've learned from the best." He acknowledged.
My father had been a very smart and caution Alpha. In situations like this, he stayed focus and didn't let emotions take over him. In the end, this proved to be helpful when our pack was attacked.
"You ready to go home." Heather his mate walked in along with their daughter Megan.
"Good morning Alpha," Megan said to me.
"Morning. And yes he is ready to go home. The doctor recommends that he should stay on bed rest for a couple days."
"Trust me that all he will be doing," Heather promised.

Since the rogue informed me that our pack was going to be attack I wasn't able to do anything but be stuck in my offices trying to figure out who was out to get my pack.
Our pack doesn't have a history of being attack randomly so Tyler and I think it had to do something with the same group of rogues that had attacked us years ago. When we got attacked it all happen so fast that we weren't able to capture any of the remaining rogues and until now none of them have resurfaced.
"We've taken all the precautions but what do we do now? We can't just sit around and wait to be attacked." Tyler asked me.
Before I could respond Keith one the guards that I had assigned to watch over Alex's house had mind linked me. "Alpha there's someone one here."
"Who?"
"Not sure, he doesn't seem like a threat."
"He?" I growled.
"Yes. It's a he. He's human." I immediately got up and preceded to leave my office.
"Ryan, where are you going?" Tyler asked me.
"I'll be back," I said before leaving my office and heading towards the nearest exit.
My wolf was whining at the fact that our mate was with another man."What are they doing?"
"Not sure Alpha."
"THEN WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU SURE OF!" I yelled angrily through the mind link.
"If I had to guess I would say they're going out-." I cut him off.
Lovebirds? My mate will be no such thing with anyone but myself.
"Nothing, just catching up," Alex told her.
The girl smiled. "Do you guys remember the beginning of junior year when you guys had huge crushes on each other and couldn't even function around each other?" She laughed making Alex and the guy blush bright red. "Xavier would stutter and you," She pointed at Alex, "Would blush at everything he said."
I growled loudly. I couldn't believe my mate had been involved with him or anyone else for that matter.
"That was so long ago," Alex said.
"It was." He agreed.
"Really a long time ago." She rolled her eyes. "It was like a couple of weeks ago. I don't understand why you guys broke up, I mean I know y'all are going off to different colleges but at least y'all could do is enjoy the summer together, see where life takes it."
This girl was really starting to get on my nerves.
"Why string along the inevitable?" My mate asked.
"But why not be happy?" The girl argued.
I could no longer hear any more of this conversation if I wanted to restrain myself from killing my mate's ex. I returned to the woods and shifted and ran back to our territory but not before ordering Keith to return to the party to keep an eye on my mate.
