"Thank you for dinner, it was great something I seriously need after today." She thanked me as we both walked up the walk way to her house.

"You're welcome. If you don't mind me asking what exactly put you in a bad mood to begin with."

"Um, work." I could she was lying just by the way she avoided eye contact.

Deciding not to push her into telling me the truth I nodded and went to change the subject only to be cut off by her.

"Ryan." She stopped and turn so that she was facing me. "I know what I said earlier was inappropriate and I apologize. But I want you to know that I take this opportunity 100% serious and I don't think want you to think other wise."

"I understand."

"Okay. Well thanks for dinner." She held her hand out for me to shake. "I'll see you tomorrow."

I nodded taking her hand in mine. We shook hands and she retreated to her house and me to my car.

"Fuck!" I hit the steering wheel.

Part of me was happy that I had such a smart mate but the other part was pissed at myself.

Why did I take the business approach knowing that a smart business women wouldn't mix business with pleasure.

"How did it go?" My mother asked me as soon as I entered the door.

When she heard that I was going out with my mate she was so excited that she insisted that she pick out my clothes.

"Started off okay, ended horribly. She want to make sure things stay professional between us."

"Smart girl." She smiled brightly.

"Right, but how will I convince her to be my mate."

"You'll figure it out." She rubbed my back before going upstairs probably to bed.

"What they fuck do I do now?"

"What are you guys doing here?" I was serving a table when Kendra had walked up to me.

"Lunch, what do you mean? Don't tell me you forgot?" She rolled her eyes clearly annoyed.

I had forgotten that at the party her and I had made plans to get lunch. "Of course not. I just thought you were getting her later."

"Right." She said sarcastically. "If you're busy we can just reschedule." She looked bummed out and I felt really guilty.

"No its fine. Have you ever been to The Red Café?"

I could never understand how he look so much different from last night. He had shaved his beard off and gotten a haircut. On top of that he was wearing a dark blue Armani suit with dress shoes.

"...Um yea I was, but we're," I cleared my throat. "We decide to get lunch." I blushed at how stupid I sounded. "Ryan this is my friend Kendra."I gestured to her. "Kendra this is my boss and the owner of this establishment."

"Nice to meet you. Beautiful restaurant you have." She complimented.

"Thank you." He responded blandly, almost as if he had to force him self to say it. "Well I let you get back to your lunch, and you can meet me in my office afterwards." I nodded and he walked away.

"Wow he's hot."

After my lunch with Kendra and having her constantly ask me about Ryan, I went to the restroom to freshen up before heading to the back to Ryan's office.

"Come in."

It had been about a week and every day Ryan tried to contact me, whether it was through a text or a call. Surprisingly he hadn't once tried to come by the restaurant, which I was grateful. Seeing Meagan had put a bad taste in my mouth and given me a chance to evaluate what I was about to do. Giving away my father or even a piece of my father restaurant and having someone hold it over my head was terrifying. I can't even believe that I even considered it.

"So you changed your mind on taking the job." She asked to clarify.

"Yes. I couldn't do it, Melissa, I feel like I would betraying my father."

"I get it why you did it. But aren't you a little worried about what's going to happen."
