"She's human," I stated. "And how does that make us better than everybody else?" Lily logic wasn't always correct but it was always interesting to hear.
"We'll be different, unlike other basic packs," She shrugged and took a seat on the side of my desk despite there being a chair where she could sit. "So when will you introduce her to the pack?"
"It's complicated Lily. Hopefully soon." I rubbed my temples to relieve so of the stress there. I still wasn't sure on how I would tell Alex. One thing that I had gathered about her is that she was really independent and stubborn. The conversation could go either way. She could be happy, or she could be really pissed off.
"Is that why you've been so absent from the pack and spending all your time at The Red Café?"
"Yes but that's going to change as soon as I get her to accept me."
"Fine, well can I at least meet her?" She said as she tried out the puppy dog eyes on me.
"No," I told her sternly.
"Pleaseeee." She begged.
"Lily I said no and please don't make me use my Alpha voice."
The Alpha voice was used to make the lower ranked wolves submit. Wolves hated for it to be used on them. They would try to fight it but in the end, it would just be more painful towards them.
"Fine." She stood up from my desk and made her way to the door. "Do you still think I should get a job?"
Summer school had just ended a few days ago and she had passed with a B-. Now that it was over getting a job would be a good idea for her, and would hopefully keep her out of trouble.
"Yes Lily, you should still get a job but what does that have to do with what we're talking about," I asked confusedly.
"Nothing." She shook her head. "I was just asking because Taylor said some places in the mall and in the city were hiring and I was going to go check them out."
On top of that, every time his name was brought up there was a sudden ache in my heart. I had no idea why he had these effects over my body but he did. I had this urge to see him and be near him, and even kiss him. I sometimes even find myself stalking his Facebook page. It was useless because he never got on but the pictures were nice to gaze at. I'm sort of glad our business relationship didn't work out because I have no idea how I would have been able to keep these urges in check.
"Fine." She sighed and carried the box she had just finished packing and taped downstairs. She stopped before she reached the door, "It's actually getting late, I'm gonna head out. Would you like for me to take some of those boxes with me?"
Once all of the five boxes were in her car she was off. I headed back inside and sat down on the couch to read all the mail that I had been dreading. The first letter had been from the phone company letting me know that my phone bill was due, and then the electric company saying the same thing. I decide to skip the rest of the bills and head to the one that was from the bank. I was probably just letting me know that they had received the check for the mortgage on the restaurant.
