Jamie was scrambling to get a flight out of the country.

But Joey and his team caught her at the airport.

She was hysterical.

“You can’t arrest me! Joey, I know you’re out there! Say something! You promised you’d take care of me! Is this how you take care of me?!”

I looked at Joey.

His eyes were filled with a cold fury.

But hadn’t he been madly in love with her? Why was he looking at her like that?

Nash slammed his hand on the table. “We found a large sum of money in your offshore account, Jamie. You’ve been siphoning money into it for years. And the original amount… it matches the missing funds from your father’s company. Wasn’t your father the one trying to run away with the money? The money that Aria’s father caught him stealing?”

Jamie’s composure shattered. She threw back her head and laughed, a wild, manic sound.

“Three years… it took you three years to figure that out? You’re all idiots! And you, Joey… you’re the biggest idiot of them all! What’s the point of arresting me now? You think she’s going to come back to life?”

“Joey, don’t forget, you’re the one who killed her! You’re the one who hung up on her when she begged for your help! You murdered her! That stupid killer… he was just like you – easy to manipulate. A few well-placed words, and he hated her. I heard he was brutal… wasn’t he?”

“And your precious baby… he…”

The door burst open.

Joey lunged, his hands closing around Jamie’s throat, lifting her from the chair.
