Chapter 40 

Lottie’s POV 

Huh that’s weird… Alex read my text twenty minutes ago and hasn’t replied… 

I curse myself mentally for caring too much, considering that 1, myself, am actually the worlds worst at texting him back when I’m busy! 

“So Anna, tell me everything! How’s the love life for you?” Erik exaggerates the question, since all we had seemed to do so far is discuss my new relationship with Alex… 

I knew that they both meant no harm by it, but the way they wanted to know every detail of how we became official, seriously made my cheeks sore from the embarrassment. I was more than happy for Anna to take the spotlight now! 

“My love life is literally non–existent thanks to Jace!” Anna grumbles, before taking a forkful of her spicy pesto pasta. 

We currently sat in the food courts best Italian restaurant called Santa Lucia – the most perfect lunch spot to date. 

“Isn’t he your cousin?” Erik tilts his head, getting the wrong idea from Anna’s statement, causing Anna to almost choke. 

“No not like that! I haven’t had the best of luck with guys when I was younger… so he’s really overprotective now… he even punched a guy once for calling me s*xy at a party! So his ridiculous behaviour has now resulted in most of the guys at school totally avoiding me like the plagtie!” Anna complains as we listen intently to her. 

It must suck! I can understand why Jace is so worried about guys going near her due to what happened in the past… but I also understand that Anna is a teenage girl who wants to experience love… don’t we all at one point or another? 

“Girl there must be something we can do?!” Erik laughs, as I giggle at his eagerness. 

He seems to pause for a moment in thought, probably weighing up the varying ideas on how to find Anna a man… 

“Operation find you the perfect man without Jace knowing! I know just what to do!” Erik claps with the sudden idea, causing myself and Anna to perk up slightly. 

“I’ll try anything at this rate!” Anna laughs, as I smile at her eagerness to date someone. 

She deserves to be happy! 

“We take the HOTTEST pictures tomorrow in our festival outfits… post them on Instagram where all of the guys from school will see them… and maybe you’ll even bump into some of them at the festival? We can avoid Jace so he won’t know!” Erik exclaims, as I eye Anna quickly before we both laugh. 

It’s perfect! Although I don’t even have an instagram… I couldn’t even begin to tell you how to work the app! 

‘Ok sure! It’s worth a try! But I hate posting photos of myself…” Anna trails off, as Erik hushes her with a finger. 

“Nonsense! You both are hot b*tches! Put yourself out there! You too Lottie – boyfriend or not you’re still involved in this! Make him know how bad a*s his girlfriend is!” Erik is overly confident with the plan now which causes us all to laugh loudly. 

If I were to use a word to describe myself… it certainly wouldn’t be ‘b*d*ss‘ but I guess it’s only a picture! 

“Sure! You will have to help me make an account though I’ve never had one…” I state, as they both nod eagerly. 

“What about you Erik? Since we’ve damn well discussed both of our love life’s now?” Anna folds her arms in an accusing way to joke around – as Erik places his hands over his face. 

“Don’t do this to me girls!” He faughs into his hands and mumbles, causing me to smile at how light hearted and fun he always was to be 

around. 

“Well you both know about the guy from the party who ditched me… total loser! But anyway, he keeps trying to slide back into my DMs!” Erik rolls his eyes and tuts with his tongue. 

‘Slide into my DMs, I think, trying to keep up with the lingo… it must be messaging? He’s trying to still text him? I think… 

“What an a*s!” Anna comments, as I nod in agreement with her. 

“So you’ll be taking hot pictures tomorrow too?“, I ask, causing him to smirk. 

Erik was a handsome guy with a great style. His clothing mostly consisted of black, white and overall neutral colours and from the both times I had saw him he seemed to know exactly how to complete an outfit! 

He was muscular, but still slim, and his lashes and brows were groomed to perfection- giving him the total ‘pretty boy‘ aesthetic. 

“OF COURSE! Can’t let you two steal all of the men!” Erik concludes, again causing us to erupt in laughter at his playful nature. 

“Having fun?” I practically jump out of my seat when a large male slides into the booth beside me. 

I turn uncomfortably fast, before releasing a sigh when noticing that it was only Alex and the boys… 

“Hey!” I say, before I look to Anna who is glaring at them all oddly. 

“Whose he doll?” Alex gestures to Erik with his thumb, as I glance over to Erik myself to see him staring oddly at the three of them. 

“Oh… that’s Erik… who we met at the party remember? Erik this is Alex, my boyfriend that I was telling you about.” I attempt to introduce them, not wanting to be rude, as Alex seems to just glare meanwhile Erik offers him a smile. 

“We all know thee Alex!” Erik laughs out, as Alex squints at him slightly unsure of how to take the guy. 

“Oh I see what’s going on!” Erik suddenly gasps loudly, as if a light bulb had gone off in his mind. 

He then starts to laugh, which causes Alex to scoot closer to me if at all possible… what is he doing? He’s being so weird… 

“I ain’t trying to steal your girl Mr! Oh no! You’ve got me all wrong! I swing for the other team if you know what I’m saying!” Erik winks at Alex, which causes me to look up at him with a smile. 

Alex‘ mouth had dropped open into an ‘o‘ shape and he no longer looked intimidating. 

Anna shakes her head at Alex – looking amused – while I can’t help but release a loud laugh directed at him… 

Alex‘ fiery eyes land on me, as I continue to laugh at his silliness. Before I know it, Jace and Del begin to snigger followed by Anna and Erik who giggle slightly too. 

“Did you come here to check in on me?” I laugh and wipe my eye, as Alex sighs heavily through his nose unamused with the whole 

encounter. 

“So what? I didn’t know who the f*ck he was!” Alex defends, as I nudge him slightly – a silent attempt to ask him to watch his language. 

I don’t want him scaring off my new friend! 

“Well Erik, since I know now that your intentions aren’t to get in my girlfriends pants, you’re welcome to be around us.” Alex attempts to right his wrong, making me feel slightly proud of him for trying to make Erik comfortable. 

From what I learned first hand, he usually struggles with new people joining his circle… so this was good! 

“Yep you don’t have to worry about me! I’m more interested in those two more than I am with getting with Lottie!” Erik throws a hand towards Jace and Del – as their faces both drop in surprise this time. 

We all erupt laughing, before the boys decide to all take a seat and order some pasta… guess they are joining us now for lunch… 

1 kicked my shopping bags to the side slightly, not wanting Alex to see inside since my advice from Anna was ‘don’t tell him what you’re wearing because he will lost his shit, just surprise him when it’s too late!. 

It took me hours of trying on different outfits to find something fit for the festival… I wanted to hide my scars, however also wanted to ‘fit in with the style which basically consisted of being half naked and sparkly! 

The outfit I found was just perfect! But according to Anna, Alex would rather have me go in a snow suit instead if he seen it beforehand… 

It wasn’t too bad though, so I seriously think he won’t care at all. He has better things to worry about other than my outfit choice… but with that, I’ll always take on board Anna’s advice! 

Alex will just have to wait until tomorrow…
