Chapter 57 

Lottie’s POV 

“We have two more to do and then we are ready to go!” I inform Alex, pointing to both of the gifts we had grown too tired to wrap up last night.. 

We sit back down on the floor surrounded by the wrapped boxes and gift bags, all complete with silver wrapping paper, pink bows and strings… 

I watch Alex with admiration as he carefully begins to fold the wrapping paper and tape it together. His hands, which are usually strong and rough, handle the delicate task with surprising ease. It’s moments like these that remind me of the incredible person he is, beyond his tough exterior… 

As we work, I can’t help but reflect on how much has changed since I first arrived at this town. The dark cloud of my past still looms over me, but being here with Alex, Anna, Del and Jace has seriously brought a new light into my life again. They’ve shown me what it means to be cared for, and to have someone go out of their way to make me feel special 

With each gift we wrapped together, I felt a sense of gratitude for the friendship and love I’ve found here. Anna’s birthday has become an opportunity for all of us to come together and celebrate the bonds we’ve formed despite the existing threat that lies just around the corner. 

We finish up wrapping the last two presents. Leaving the room covered in silver and pink paper, ribbons, and numbers of empty shopping bags and 

tissue. 

As we make our way downstairs to the living room, where Anna will soon join us, I can’t help but smile at how many gifts there are – we need to make two trips in order to just get them all downstairs alone. 

Alex and I carefully arrange the wrapped gifts on the coffee table, creating a colorful display of surprises. Del and Jace join us, adding their own bags, as we stand back to admire the display. 

I glance at the clock on the wall and realize that Anna will be waking up soon. The anticipation builds within me as I think about the excitement that ansaits her. 

I begin to stick Birthday banners around the room, asking Alex to help me out as I cut the tape…. 

Suddenly, the sound of footsteps ocho down the stairs, as we all turn towards the entrance to the living room. Anna eventually appears, her eyes widening in surprise as she takes in the sight of the gifts. 

“Wow! I did not expect all of this?” Anna exclaims in a squeal, her voice filled with excitement as she stands before us in her pyjamas – hair messy and hanging over to the side in a ponytail. 

“Happy Birthday! Surprise, Anna!” I cheer, unable t 

to contain my own excitement, as she grins from ear to ear. 

Anna’s face lights up with pure joy, and she rushes towards the sofa in front of the display, eagerly examining each one of the neat parcels before her.

The room 

fills with laughter as she tries to guess what might be inside each one like a kid on Christmas… 

We all gather around, as 1 hand her an iced coffee which I had pre–made. 

“Thank you!” She takes it eagerly, before I gasp in remembrance…….. 

“Oh you have to wear this too! The whole day!” I suddenly pull out the “Birthday Queen novelty crown that we had purchased along with a pink sash with Its My Birthday‘ wrote on it. 

She giggles and happily puts them on… 

The worries and troubles of the outside world momentarily fade away as we focus on celebrating this special day for her… 

Anna begins opening the gifts one by one, her excitement growing with each surprise. She unwraps two new sport sets and a sweatshirt which I had picked out for her from the Gym–shark website – earning a squeal of excitement as that was her favourite brand. 

Anna then opens her perfume, followed by her expensive makeup sets that the boys had successfully managed to pull off, before she moves on to her 

shoe box

Chapter 57 

1 grin, unable to contain my excitement for her to open t this specific gift, as she eyes me warily with a giggle before tearing back the paper… 

“NO WAY! I love these!” Anna yells loudly, holding up the pink shoe, as I clap along with her. 

“But guess what?!” announce, as Anna grins and grabs my hands. 

“What?” She smiles widely, as I almost burst with happiness- 

“Alex also got me the same ones! We are matching with the coolest si 

sneakers ever!” I tell her, as she squeals yet again – causing Jace to cover his ears, 

This friendship has officially been UPGRADED girl!” Anna claims, as I giggle and hand her the next gift as she smiles brightly and thanks me… 

The gifts seem to be endless, as we smile and laugh at her sincere reaction to each and every one. She truly was grateful 

“But there’s one more gift left–the biggest one.” Jace suddenly states, after Anna finishes opening up some more perfume and clothes that her parents had sent her… 

Jace reveals the small white box, as she eyes it in amusement – taking it from his palm. 

“Go on, open it,” I encourage her, eager to see what was inside too as we both laugh. 

Anna pulls back the seal, before sliding out the contents of the box to reveal… 

“CAR KEYS!!” Anna stands from her seat, and begins to jump up and down–pulling me up with her as we both celebrate her excitement 

That’s from your parents… they wanted me to keep it a surprise for last.” Jace informs her, as she claps and celebrates. 

I remember how badly she had wanted a new car… explaining that she had wrecked her last one and was told to wait until her next birthday…. 

“No more Jace driving us around Lottier Anna laughs loudly, as face now begins to clap and cheer too – mocking us 

“Thank the fucking lord for that!” He exclaims, causing us all to laugh. 

“Where is 

is it? Can I see it?” Anna questions next, as lace nods briefly and eyes Alex as he checks his phone. 

“It’s outside… we drove it here during the night lace gestures with his hand for us to follow him towards the front door, as Anna and 1 skip behind him 

-arm in arm 

He opens the door, as Anna almost collapses at the sight of the brand new, freshly painted white Audi TT. It was perfect for her! 

“Here’s the card…” Jace hands her a small card, as she flicks it open and scoffs showing me the note next. 

Don’t wreck this one I mean it! Love Dad x‘ 

1 giggle, before she rushes towards the vehicle to take a better look jumping and cheering at each and every detail in the interior. 

“This car is literally perfect for me!” She ge 

gestures for me to come over, as I move towards her – admiring the car too, 

“Can we take it for a test drive?” Anna questions, as the guys all eye one another briefly with concern. 

“No.” Alex and face both say in unison, causing Anna to groan loudly. 

“It’s my birthday! We won’t even leave the car!” Anna whines, as I nod beside her in agreement. 

Nobody can get us from inside a car? Right? 

“You can drive it over to Aunt Rinnas later… Alex then bargains, as Anna’s eyes widen and she grows excited again. 

“Are we going over there for dinner tonight? Sounds like a great plan! Lottie let’s go get dressed up!” Anna grabs my hand and rushes us back inside, as I follow her laughing 

Chapter 57 

up to my room pretty please? Since it’s my birthday!” Anna chimes back to them over her shoulder, as they mutter and 

gifts up 

“Boys can you all take my gi follow us in. 

“So far, this is the best birthday ever!” Anna announces, hugging me once more as 1 suddenly feel accomplished. 

They weren’t ruining this day… I won’t let them!

like true friends. I’m so happy she has this. 

even through h the storm they can still celebrate a friend/cousin which is more like a sister to them, just wonder what they would do for lottie in hers
