Alex’s POV

“So that’s it then? Del just leaves with her and defends her these days? What an asshole!” Anna complains loudly at the dinner table, commenting on the fact that Del hadn’t returned after what had happened with Clara. 

“He will be back dear give him time!” Rinna comments, as she clinks glasses with her friend Flo as they both take long sips of their wine. 

Everyone tucks into their dinner, before I take this as my time to leave the room to give Del a call… let’s see what’s gotten into him! 

Lottie eyes me briefly as I stand from the table, noting the determination in my gaze. I give her a reassuring smile, silently conveying that I would be back soon as she nods In slight understanding. 

Leaving the noise and laughter of the dining room behind, I find a quiet room in the house to make the phone call. 

As I dial Del’s number, my mind fills with questions and concerns…. 

I still couldn’t understand why he would defend Clara despite witnessing her hurtful comments towards Lottie… I also couldn’t wrap my head around why he even liked her to begin with?! 

The phone rings a few times before Del finally answers. His voice sounding slightly tense as he greets me. “Hey, Alex. What’s up?” 

“Del, we need to talk, I state firmly, not mincing my words. “What t the fuck was that all about earlier? Your girl clearly has a serious problem! Why did you defend Clara even after everything she said to Lottie?” I rant, pacing the room in sudden annoyance. 

There’s a brief pause on the other end of the line before Del sighs heavily. “I don’t know, man. I guess I got caught up in the moment. Clara and I have been going through some stuff that I seriously don’t know how to get out of….I dont think I can get out… it’s complicated Alex! I’m an idiot! But I know that I was wrong earlier I just wanted things to be easier on my end – you know?” Del rambles, as my eyes squint at his worried tone. 

Something isn’t right here… he sounds off.. 

y tone controlled as best I can. “Del, you know how important Lottle is to all of us 

My frustration seeps through my voice as I respond, trying to keep my now, especially after what happened. You’re one of the few she trusts and feels safe around! Clara’s behavior was unacceptable, and defending her only added insult to injury. Lottie deserves better than that.” I scold, before silence falls between us. 

“Alex I’m sorry bro! I’m not lying… this shit with Clara is bad… I don’t want to be with Clara, she’s a bitch! I’m just stuck with her!” Del mumbles, his tone falling flat. 

I pause briefly, my mind racing to put the pieces together of what he was saying…. 

“Then what is it? What’s stopping you from dumping the bitch? ? Just tell me and I can help?” I demand, before hearing his car start up on his end. 

“I’ve dropped her home, I told her I needed space tonight. I’ll drive back over there, but don’t tell the others that I’m coming yet – I’ll text y there?” Del asks, as I take this as my turn to sigh now. 

“Sure. I’ll see you when you get here then. I state briefly, before ending the line. 

I hold my phone in my

a moment, staring down at it, before I sigh and head back through to the dining room to grab something to eat. 

As I reenter the dining room, the conversation and laughter continues as if nothing had happened. Anna shoots me a questioning look, but I simply give her a subtle nod, indicating that everything will be fine. 

Taking a seat back next to Lottie, I plate up some food, having looked forward to Rinnas cooking all week I wasn’t missing out on this over some drama! 

Lottie glances at me, her eyes filled with curiosity and concern. I give her a reassuring smile, before whispering to her “Del is on his way back, I’m going to have a chat with him when he gets here, everything will be fine.” With that, Lottie nods and continues to eat. 

We eat and listen to Rinnas humorous rant about a rude store assistant she had encountered earlier in the week, as I zone out, my mind preoccupied with Del’s cryptic words.

What could be so complicated that he feels trapped in his relationship with Clara? The mere thought sends a shiver down my spine, and I can’t shake the feeling that something intense and potentially life–altering is about to unfold…

Seconds tum into long minutes as I wait for Del’s arrival – continuing to check my phone. Each passing moment only heightening my anticipation and 

Finally, a text message notification on my phone comes through. It’s from Del, confirming that he has arrived and was parked out front. 

Excusing myself from the table, I make my way outside, leaving the warmth of the house behind. The cool night air embraces me as I find myself walking towards Dels car. 

As I slide into the passenger seat, I notice the anguish and pain etched on his face as he eyes me briefly. 

This was a side of Del that I rarely see, and it sends a pang of concern through me. “Del, what’s going on?” I ask, my voice filled with genuine worry for 

Deltakes a deep breath, staring straight ahead for a moment before tuming to speak to me. “She’s such a bitch to me Alex! She even slapped me last weck for no fucking reason – can you believe that?! Del grits out, somewhat embarrassed by the statement as he rants. 

“Clara slapped you? What the fuck for?!” I fume, another thing to add to my list of reasons for hating the whiny female. 

“I followed a girl on instagram, who for the record, does real estate! It was literally nothing to even worry about! The chick does house tours of some of the richest places – I was interested in watching the videos.” Del scoffs, rolling his eyes, as I glare at the fact. 

Who does Clara think she is?! 

“Even if it was a naked fucking porn star Del! Clara has no right to slap you for following somebody on Instagram!” I rage, as he nods and closes his eyes knowingly. 

He breathes out steadily, before peeling his eyes open to continue – “It gets worse… He begins, causing dread to seep through me. 

Tust hit me with 

“I wave my hand for him to hurry up, feeling completely bothered and on edge. 

His voice trembles with a mixture of fear and desperation as he finally reveals the truth. Alex, Clara… told me that she’s pregnant.” 

The words hit me like a sledgehammer, and my heart skips a beat. The intensity of the moment takes my breath away, and I struggle to find the right words. “Pregnant? Are you sure?” 

Del’s eyes meet mine, Elled with a mixture of despair and uncertainty. 

“She sent me a picture of the test. Alex. I only slept with her that one time and she said I got her pregnant! I felt guilty after that and decided I would try to make it work between us but I’m miserable! I don’t know what to do. I don’t want to be tied to her for the rest of my life, but…this changes everything. Dels eyes water slightly, as he grows aggravated. 

The weight of the situation settles heavily upon us both. Del’s confession opening up a whole new realm of complexities and challenges. 

I reach out, placing a reassuring hand on his shoulder, giving it a squ

“Del, this is a lot to process, but you can’t let her bully you – pregnant or not – you’re better than that. We’ll figure this out. Lottie and the others will support you too, no matter what.” I reassure him, as he nods a few times, drinking in my words, 

Del’s eyes search mine, his vulnerability laid bare. “I just don’t want to hurt Lottie or the rest of you. This is a mess, and I don’t know how to untangle it. I’ve been so fucking embarrassed and she begged me not to tell anyone yet that’s why I’ve been weird!” He admits. 

“Well find a way to cope with this, Del. We always do. But I must admit, a crappy picture of a test isn’t enough evidence for me. Did you know she wasn’t on birth control when you had sex with her?” I think on it, as he shrugs. 

“I was drunk and so was she. I can’t remember if I asked or not which only makes matters worse!” He groans, as I sigh heavily. 

“You have to ask to go to the appointments with her.” I tell him, as he leans forward–placing his head on the steering wheel. 

Chapter 84 

“Yeah I probably should… she said she wants her Mom to go with her though… Del trails off in annoyance, as I grow tense.

“Fuck that! If she claims that you are the Father, then you’ve got a right to be there more than anybody! Put your foot down on this! Tell her you 108:23 leave her if she doesn’t take you to the appointments! You should probably get a DNA test done too… I heard shes known to sleep around with some of the football team.” I grumble, staring the fact. 

Del nods slowly, his gaze turning distant as he contemplates on my words. The weight of his situation weighs heavily on us both now, but I’m determined to help him navigate this challenging chapter in his life. 

He doesn’t have to do this alone… 

“You’re right… I’m going to call her right now! I have a right to have this shit confirmed before I dive in head first!” Del speaks up in realisation, pulling out his phone to find Claras number.. 

Together, we’ll face the unexpected twists and turns that lie ahead – even if that means Del becoming a father!
