Calvin came back with not only dinner, but dessert as well. The boys had run off to greet him up at the driveway. All the pathway lights had been turned on by either Denise or Henry. She wasn’t certain which, but she just let the boys run out there to greet Calvin. It was likely going to be their normal when he was coming and going.

She, however, didn’t get up and go greet him. He had to learn how it is to be around them by himself, and how hard it was to wrangle them sometimes. The boys came back carrying a bag, each yelling about dinner was

here.

She’d set the table outside and turned on the outdoor lights around the pool area and as Calvin put everything down on the table, he looked about, “It’s a bit cold out, I’ll go and get the outdoor heater and set it up.” he’d stated and ducked off to

here she knew the pool shed storage room was. He rolled it out to the

table and turned it on.

“I got dessert as well. You didn’t say if I should or shouldn’t, but I picked up the ultimate red velvet cheesecake. I hope that’s okay. You

said the boys weren’t allergic to anything.”

“They’re not.” She nodded as he sat dow

The twins were already eating.

“Mum, he left in one car and came back in another,” Vincent told her.

“Mm, I own several cars. The Bentley doesn’t have room for what I wanted to put

“More than one car?” Callum asked.

“Yes, four actually, and a company car that drives me about.”

“You got a plane too,” Vincent stated around a mouthful of hamburger.

in it.”

“Yes, and three houses.” Calvin told them, “This one, my apartment and a house in California as well, though that’s mostly for work purposes, and my employees get to use it as well.”

“Wow, mum, he’s got everything,” Callum stated.

“I guess he does. She nodded, though her new house in Montana was bigger and more impressive than this

one.

She ate quietly and just let the boys talk to Calvin about whatever they wanted to, and then he offered to take them to watch a movie in the theater room after dinner. She nodded at him and told him he could. Only to have him stand there and kind of stare at her. “Are you not going to join us?” he asked after half a minute. “No, that’s a you and them thing. I can work while you do that. I’ve not had the chance to on the drive out here. Go and spend time with them. That is why they are here,” she told him simply, and it was for him to spend time with them.

He sighed, “I’d also like to spend time with you, get to know you, and you, me.”

“Would you now? Perhaps Mr Reeves, I’m only here, so the boys can spend time with you, did you think about that at all?” she told him, and he frowned at her.

But then he nodded, “It would be nice for us to get to know each other, don’t you think? Seeing that we have

children together, that way we can get along, and you can come to trust me with them.

That will happen over time naturally, I imagine, there is no need to force it, Mr Reeves.” She stated simply and waved him off.

“Do you think you could see your way to calling me Calvin and not Mr Reeves? It’s a bit formal for this setting don’t you think?” he asked.

“Hmm, but I don’t know you, so I think that is best for now. I guess one day I might consider it, but it’s not going to be today,” she told him, and again he was frowning deeply at her.

She watched him walk away to the main house and the boys go with him, and shook her head. He didn’t know what to make of her at all. But then again, that was what she wanted from him. He would find it was better for himself if he just focused on the twins for now. She would give him no leeway at all for the moment, because he needed to be punished.

She might be here at Cliffside, giving him some semblance of hope, but she could also keep him at a distance at the same time. Make him focus solely on bonding with the twins and leave her alone for the most part. She did want the boys to not only get to know him, but bond with him, and be able to have a nice time with him and, at some point, they were going to want to go with Calvin, just the two of them and him, so this, him and them alone would be good for the three of them.

She didn’t think he would hurt them, and even though he’d had that moment where he’d thought she was Marrin, he’d seemed to have checked himself. He’d also not gotten mad about her pushing him into the pool, or grating out she wasn’t Marrin. He was, it seemed, able to handle it and not get mad at her as well.

She sank down and took a call from Anabell and Wil about how things were going out there. “How’d he react? “Wil asked her. “Any issues arise.”

“Let’s just say he knows how cold the pool is now,she snorted, “fully clothed and in he went.”

“What?Wil asked.

me Marrin.

“Is he staying out there? Or coming back to the city?Wil asked.

“He won’t,” Wil stated. “Got the boys right there, and they make him more than happy. It was his intent to spend a month with you in Italy, and he was hoping you’d come back pregnant.”
