CH 50
Calvin
He sat after his presentation and looked at all three of Marilyn’s lawyers; they were sitting there going over the PowerPoint document he’d presented to them to follow along with his presentation. They should be able to see that he had put a lot of effort into this. He approached this like any business deal; with the frame of mind to win over the one he was targeting
They could also see that it wasn’t just a plan for the short–term but in place for long–term assistance. He’d also made sure they all knew that, and had stated during that presentation that Marilyn and her childer were allowed to be there at Cliffside until she was given full diagnosis of good health, regardless of how long it
took.
He was watching Liam flip casually back through that document after the presentation even, and the man appeared to be making notes on it. Either Calvin had missed something, or Liam was just being very diligent, and was about to start getting full clarification on some of the things in there for his client. Maybe she had her own list of questions to be asked through her lawyer.
Wil had already told him to expect questions, and Wil didn’t think Calvin was going to get what he wanted either. He had stated prior to this meeting, “Don’t expect her lawyers to be grateful for this offer, and don’t expect Marilyn to accept your offer of help.”
But Calvin didn’t see why she wouldn’t accept it. He’d not bothered her once, though admittedly he had wanted to go and speak to her near on daily, but had to make himself stay put. He’d not seen the woman in
five days, not since the day of the accident.
Wil had stared at him and shaken his head a little and stated, “Because Calvin, you’ve gone from calling her
your ex–wife to stating she’s your ex–sister in–law, it will still be seen as you have an unhealthy attachment to Marilyn, and that needs to be completely let go of.”
Calvin had frowned at Wil but had nodded “Til refrain myself and my beliefs then, from coming across in this
meeting.”
Now he was doing that, he had not once referred to her as anything but Marilyn or Miss Riddley, kept anything that would sound as though he still had an attachment to her out of his words. Now he was waiting for the verdict. Lisa had closed that document and slid it across the table away from her. She was a no. That was a given, it was clear in her expression and demeanour for the entire time they’d been here.
Liam and Hamilton were still going through it, discussing things quietly, between themselves, pointing things out to each other, “Mr Reeves, where is this estate located?” Liam finally looked at him.
“Father!” Lisa exclaimed unhappily right away.
“Let it go. Marilyn has the right to all the information, to make an informed decision, she’s the one injured, not you,” he told her as he looked at her pointedly, for a solid minute before she’d folded her arms and glared at him. Calvin nearly smiled at the annoyed look that crossed Lisa’s face.
it is an hour outside the city, on the coast Calvin answered him “Would you like me to pull it up on a map for you to look at, see its exact location? I could also print that out for you, mark the map,” he offered. “So you can show Marilyn herself”
CHILD
Yes please, do show me where it is, in comparison to where you live yourself… Which Is?” Liam asked
directly.
Here in the city, I have a penthouse about 20 minutes away,” Calvin told him, and he pulled up the map. He even did the Google Maps from here at the head office to there and got the route, distance and time it would take to get out there to Cliffside from here in the city.
Liam leaned back in his chair and looked at it. Right now it showed a 1–hour and 7–minute drive to get from
here to Cliffside.
“Who owns the estate you’ve managed to acquire for Marilyn’s recovery?” Liam asked as his eyes moved
back to Calvin
1 do.” Calvin answered honestly. “It sits unused and has been empty for many years now,” he amended his
words, from since Marrin moved out of it.
“Many years?” Hamilton stated. “Just how many years would that be?”
“Those photos were taken this week if you’re concerned about the actual estate, and its living conditions.” Calvin answered him “I had the live–in housekeeper take them
“I’m not concerned about that,” Hamilton stated “How many years?” he asked once again.
“About seven and a half, why?” Calvin answered.
He watched Liam lean back in his chair and stare right at him, and he heard Wil sigh from next to him. He seemed to know where this line of questioning was leading
“Who lived in the house seven and a half years ago?” Liam asked now.
“No one, it was empty.” Will answered for him.
Liam’s eyes moved towards Wil, and he raised an eyebrow at him. “Alright… Who was the last person to live in that house then?” Liam asked directly.
“Calvin was.” Wil cut him off before he could answer that with Marrin.
“What are you indirectly asking?” Calvin frowned at the pair of them. Hamilton was now on his phone typing away, and that bothered him right away. Liam had asked for no phones in this meeting, yet they were using them. Something else was going on here.
“Did your ex–wife live there prior to your divorce, is what I want to know? Liam asked.
Pack up. Lam stated. “We’re done here. I will not aid or abet you as a stalker, into getting a woman that looks like your ex–wife, into the house that one Marrin Reeves used to own herself. Mr Reeves, you are out of
Yes, and I will be looking for a trial by jury. The average everyday person will also see it as I just laid it out as well. A billionaire trying to get a woman who looks like his ex–wife, alone in one of his own homes. When
