Marilyn

Knowing that she was going to have to let the boys be a part of that man’s life, she needed to put herself in a

room with him. Tell him no to something he wanted and see just what his reaction to it was.

Would he lose it and rage at her? If he did, she was going to have that restraining order and the AVO reinstated. Only this time would she have the boys included in them as well. He had breached their contract to leave her alone. He had somehow found out where they lived and was now in fact interacting with the

boy’s school. It was not just a mere coincidence; she knew that.

She also knew that if Calvin did react like that, then she was going to have to sit down with her boys and explain it to them in full detail, but surely, they would understand that she was just protecting them from a man that had a violent temper.

Liam knew why she had requested it, even why at the last minute. To see how he would react to it was why. Would he turn up at her request? Or feel like he didn’t need to explain himself, or do anything that didn’t suit

him.

Was he such a control freak that being told what to do, when and where to be, by someone like her, would it set off his temper and ignite his rage? She’d done some research on abusive people. It was about lording themselves over others, dominating and controlling those they abused. To make the one targeted by them,

feel fear of them, and to make them do what they wanted.

Calvin was already a billionaire that held power and thought he could do whatever he wanted, whenever he wanted to. She’d challenged him at every turn, not complied with his questioning and demands. Refused to give him what he wanted, and then she had also up and left when he was trying to make her stay there.

She’d defied him even with his words of ‘no one here will help you Marrin. Not against me.‘ had gotten lawyers to help her and were willing to challenge him on her behalf. But those very words told her that he believed he was above the law and could do as he pleased.

He’d shown her that was what he thought as well. Had broken his contract to stay away from her and leave her alone, and although he’d probably not left his state, trying to get around that order and their contract, he’d found out where she lived, what school the boys went to. So he’d not actually left her alone at all.

Liam had agreed with her that Calvin had breached their contract and in the courtroom it would be seen that way. She wasn’t exactly sure about how to deal with him or what to expect but if he ranted at her, and lost his temper. She was simply going to get up and walk away altogether, defying him once more.

She was already looking at property in Colardo, Montana and Idaho. They all had nice small towns at the base of the mountain foothills and could give her a home much like what she now had; a nice home with surrounding trees and creeks. Though finding something where she could build a new writing studio as well

was the issue.

She’d seen many properties that she liked that didn’t need renovating either, at very high prices, but this house was her and the boy’s home, and she liked it here. A part of her didn’t want to move at all. But if Calvin Reeves, her ex–husband, was going to still be like all she’d ever seen of him. She’d just leave like she had the first time.

Regardless that his lawyer had told her it wasn’t the reason she’d left him, but it would be this time around and he’d have no one to blame but himself.

She and Ashley dropped the boys off at their school and headed for Roanoke to the very same hotel as the last meeting. As she got out of the car, two men walked over to her and one held his hand out. Miss Riddley. I’m Cameron Syth. We spoke on the phone and this is my partner, Heath Waters. We’ll be the two going into your meeting and seeing you back to your home safely today.”

“Thank you.” She nodded and smiled from one to the other. “My lawyer will be inside already,” She stated, and

they walked with her inside the hotel. She saw Liam walking this way and told them who he was.

She watched Liam’s eyes move to the two bodyguards that she’d hired without telling him “Marilyn?he questioned her right away.

Morning Liam, this is Cameron and Heath, my bodyguards for the day,” she told him.

“Why?” he asked right back after nodding to the two men.

“I felt security was needed. Seeing as the last time I was in a room with Mr Reeves, I ended up at the bottom of a stairwell, unconscious and with broken bones. This will prevent that from happening again is all,” she

Though that wasn’t the only reason for them. She was trying to see Calvin’s reaction to it, her protecting herself from him. Would it make him angry that she was again daring to defy him? She was out to test the man’s resolve and see just who he truly was. Whether he could in fact be trusted around her children or not.

“Yes, I believe both Wil and Mr Reeves flew in yesterday evening. They were in fact checked in before I was. I

“Calvin is aware of the boys. I, however, don’t recall him at all, so I need to see how he reacts to me telling him no, and not doing as he wants. Like I told you. I’m here to see for myself if him interacting with the boys will put them in danger. If my protecting myself, she waved her hand at her two bodyguards. “Will set him off into a fit of rage.”

“Hmm. I want him to know I can do it on my own, that I am willing to, and this way they can’t accuse you of knowing and not informing them, now can they. She smiled at him.

Marilyn chuckled softly as they got out of the elevator, “I have, she’s arriving tomorrow for a weekend of editing and proofreading. Still got that bee in her bonnet where Calvin Reeves is concerned, I see.”

e his “I did, she was quiet for a long moment and then advised me to get some muscle. And try and p true nature out of him. Told me I had to protect myself and the boys from him. Which I also already felt I needed to. But she made a valid point, the same as my own, that I don’t recall anything about him and that
