CH 87
Calvin
Calvin sat and listened to Wil and Liam go back and forth on that contract, though there was no annoyance from either one of them and at times they both kind of laughed at things the other said. He looked at them at one point, as it dawned on him that those two men over at that table actually got along.
He didn’t think that it was that they were both in the same industry or even had things in common, because they had nothing to do with each other outside all of these meetings. He also didn’t think that it was that their personalities were the same.
It was that they had a common goal and so could think alike in trying to get what they each wanted. They were actively helping each other out with some of those clauses; they could both be objective regardless of who they were representing. He could also see that Wil was actively helping Liam to find ways to protect Marilyn and the boys from him as well.
Wil was adding things to those for Calvin that he, himself, as Calvin’s friend and attorney, knew he could use to get around everything that was being put into that contract right now. Not something his friend or
personal attorney should do at all.
Calvin shook his head and let it go. He had to, because if Wil thought it was necessary, then it probably actually was for the best for all of them. Likely Wil was over there doing things to help keep that obsession of
his at bay, but still Wil was supposed to be on his side in all of this. He sighed internally at his own thought
process.
He knew that Wil was on his side, trying to help him by finding ways to cage in his obsession and make sure
Marilyn didn’t disappear, because Calvin broke the rules once more. Therefore, it would yet again be his fault
if she vanished into the night and took his children with him. Not something he wanted, and he probably did
need Wil to constrain and cage him in.
Calvin didn’t want to hunt her again. He’d probably lose it completely if she did up and vanish once more.
He’d barely survived it the first time round, likely not to a second time, because he truly would have no one to
blame but himself. Wil would also likely leave him as well. Losing both of them would probably kill him.
So he had to stop thinking that Wil was helping her lawyer and try to think of it as that Wil was doing right by
him, trying to make sure that Calvin couldn’t find ways to break those rules being set out. So that in just two months and 16 days that restraining order and AVO would go away, and he’d then have five days after that to get Marilyn to agree to see him, and introduce the boys to him prior to Christmas.
It wasn’t all that long a wait, considering it had taken eight years to find her in the first place, it could well have been longer if she’d not come to Houston for that book signing. He might well not have met her or
known about her at all.
He could do it. He told himself, all he had to do was be of sound resolve was all, and not a sound resolve to wait, but to be there with them for Christmas. He was sitting at a table not that far from them, and was just on his phone looking at that app, and he wondered if she’d given the phone to himself as he looked at their happy little faces on that tiny marker.

Then he had to check himself, they would be in school at this hour of the day; it was only lunchtime, and they wouldn’t be home from school for many hours yet. He was actually happy at the moment he realised. Happy

that Marilyn had looked him up, read his bio to the children, and he knew she’d not Red when ched told him about that.
She had told him her word was good, unlike his own. He knew it was going to be as well. She’d also stated she’d gone along with everything Wil had requested of her in those meetings. She’d listened to Wil and read the information in that file he’d given her as well.
She’d done the DNA test when requested and been honest about the results too. She’d not lied about them to keep him at bay, had even forwarded them to Wil so he knew the results. So, yes, she had told the boys about who he was, and she’d even brought that picture of the twins today, one in which they were happy and smiling in.
He looked up at Wil’s chuckle and realised something else as well. Not once had Marilyn denied Wil anything he had wanted, and today he heard her call him Wil, not William or Mr Jameson. That was actually a curiosity to him, and she had also called him Calvin too. She had been informal with both of them today.
He sat and thought about that very thing. The last time she’d been Marrín, she’d called Wil, William, and now it was Wil. He wondered if Marilyn actually trusted Wil on some deeper level, that she had yet to register
herself.
It was completely possible. He looked at Wil over there, smiling away. The man was happy with how things had gone today, likely had gotten what he wanted from this meeting even if he and Marilyn had gotten into it. Wil’s agenda was very different to Calvins. Perhaps Wil knew more than he was letting on, or he’d picked up on her shortening of his name as well, and was of the opinion Marilyn also trusted him now.
Though he could just be happy that he’d been right about Marilyn all along, about the fact that Marrin herself hadn’t called him out of pure spite and tried to trick him, that she had in fact been in an accident and lost her memories. That he had not been wrong on any occasion, and that he was the one that knew best where Marilyn was concerned.
His best friend could look at the situation objectively, from all sides and find the best solution for not only Calvin but Marilyn and the twins. He was doing a good job as Calvin’s friend and attorney, and he realised that Wil had to be hard on him to pull him into line and, yet at the same time, he thought Wil was also being gentle but also firm with Marilyn herself.
Wil, in all likelihood, also wanted to help Marilyn, who suffered amnesia, to get her entire life back, and see the children happy, have a dad as well as a mum. A whole family under one roof. He turned his attention to his phone once more and smiled to himself. Wil already considered the boys to be his nephews and that bet
Wil would also be able to give Anabell the gift of bringing her friend back, her friend that was also her favourite author. Wil would see that as a win–win. Because everyone would get what they wanted.
also get to be a father. Wil mess; that Calvin had made, but
Calvin also knew that the truth when it came out would also make his mother happy, likely his entire family.
