Willow looked at Julian, the man she had once loved with all her heart, and felt a pang of irony. There had never been a place for her in Julian’s heart. His gaze suddenly held no room for anyone else after Alicia’s return. Those vows and sweet nothings he had professed earlier seemed pale and laughable at this moment.

She truly pitied herself. Her youthful years had been squandered. er wound from the incident still throbbed. It was only natural for her to feel such pain, though. She had unreservedly poured her most precious youth and deepest emotions, without holding back, into Julian, only for him to repeatedly drag her sincerity through the mud.

She then smiled faintly, a sense of relief washing over her. She had chosen to leave, to give up what had once meant everything. She knew that she was the object of much attention, some offering sympathy, others merely seeking amusement.

It didn’t matter to her, though, as her only thought was to remove herself from this scene, to leave this nauseating scene of a past love rekindled. She couldn’t bear to witness it any longer. It was, quite frankly, repulsive.

She promptly rose to her feet and moved past Julian, who remained utterly unaware of her presence. His gaze was locked onto Alicia, his emotions raging beneath the surface. That opulent hallway had turned into her execution ground. She felt eviscerated by the ghost of Julian’s youthful affections. Her dignity had been obliterated. Their marriage had been a mere solo act for her.

It had always been Alicia for Julian, through and through. Alicia didn’t even have to trysimply standing there and softly uttering Julianwould reignite their past romance. Julian’s gaze was also utterly fixed on her, brimming with affection. Willow knew that Julian had never looked at her in such a way.

Jeffrey hurried after her, but Willow gently brushed his hand away and said, It’s alrightthe chauffeur is waiting for me.

He hesitated briefly before finally letting Willow go.

In a short while, Rosabelle came over and asked worriedly, Do you think we should go after Willow?

Jeffrey’s gaze was profound as he replied, I’m certain Willow will pull through thisshe’s tougher than she looks, after all.

Rosabelle then leaned gently against Jeffrey’s side with her eyes glistening with unshed tears, finally realizing that love could actually cut this deeply.

Having left the Veil Club, Willow watched as Brindley’s neon tapestry softly lost its brilliance. She then settled into the car, resting against the leather seat as she said softly, I want you to drive around the city for a while. I don’t feel like going home yet.

Caleb set down his phone, crossed his arms, and remarked with a huff, You’re getting all mopey because your lover is getting hitched, huh? You look absolutely pathetic! Why would you spend six million dollars on him? You should have just spent that money on me instead!

Willow, still leaning against the seat, instructed, Just drive.

Caleb was just about to say something when a figure emerged from the Veil Club in a hurryit was Julian.

It was a profoundly dark night, and Julian’s face tightened with worry as he scanned the area for Willow’s car. It was a pink Rolls -Royce, so Julian located it without any trouble. He quickly strode toward it, with a slender figure in a white dress trailing him.

Caleb muttered in disbelief, What the hell?”

In an instant, Julian reached the car. He rapped on the car window and called out Willow’s name, wanting to offer her an explanation. He had a premonition that if he let Willow leave that day, she would never return to his side.

Her car still remained locked, though, preventing him from speaking to Willow.
