Love In Danger novel Chapter 8

"He's controlling-" I started.

"Always has been," Kelly interrupted.

"and arrogant-"

"What's new" She cut me off again.

I changed my angle, "It should have been my choice whether I stayed in New York or not but he forced me out. Claimed it was for my own good but that risk should have been mine to take. He had no right to banish me like that and I'm not going to come walking back into his life pretending like everything is fine when it's not. He's a stubborn son-of-a-bitch who can't make up his mind about anything. One minute he was telling me to get out of his life the next he was kissing me like I was the most important person in it. I'm sick and tired of playing games. I'm 25 years old for God sake!" I rambled on for a good 5 minutes before she spoke up.

"Sophia I'm only 22 so I'm not experienced with this whole grown-up life thing but by the sounds of it that is what love is like. One minute you hate them the next you are madly in love and can't get enough of them. You should tell him because my brother has never been good at sharing his feelings and if you don't make the first move then there will always be a what-if in the back of my mind. You just have to be patient with him."

"He knows how I feel Kells and I've been waiting on him for months now. I'm done." I confessed.

"Don't give up on him...please."

I shook my head and shrugged, "it's too late..."

I stayed at the hospital for an hour or so more before I finally decided it was time to go home. I hadn't booked the flight for tomorrow yet so it wouldn't be any harm to book it a day early. I found a cheap flight for 8 pm which gave me a few hours to pack and return to the hospital to say goodbye to Kelly before leaving.

Back at the hotel, Noah had insisted I stayed at I gathered up my clothes and packed them into my suitcase. I pulled my phone out of my pocket and shot Millie a text telling her I'd be back by tonight.

Archie and I will pick you up at the airport, text when you land

I was looking forward to seeing them again, they were my only real friends who didn't know about my life in New York including childhood. It felt good to start fresh. They didn't need to know about the McKenzies or anything that happened during my life before that. It wasn't that I refused to speak of it though, they just never asked. We seemed to have an unspoken agreement that the past was in the past. A good philosophy to live by but not so great when the past catches up to you.

There was a knock at the door pulling me from my phone screen. I walked over to it and was surprised to see who was standing on the other side.
