Kamryn looked at the stores along the street. Most of the owners of them were not young. The children of some of the owners had already grown up. Their whole families were sitting in front of the stores, talking happily. 

Some were playing with their grandchildren in their arms. Though they looked old with wrinkles all over their faces, they were still full of happiness. 

The more she looked at them, the more envious she became. 

She felt happiness was a life of simplicity, which many people in the busy city longed for. 

From a distance, she saw a colorful painted ship in the center of the lake. As they approached it through a bridge, they could hear the instruments playing, along with a woman’s singing in a classic style. 

She sang, “You gave me flowers and promised me love, but you left as the flowers withered…” 

The mellifluous singing stopped Kamryn in her tracks. 

The song sounded sad but melodious. It was extremely beautiful with the sound of distinctive classical instruments. 

The singer continued, “You said we belonged together but you went back on your words; 

“You said we would watch the sunset together for the rest of our lives but I was all alone then; 

“You said you would return but you didn’t when my hair was graying:

promised me marriage but then you lived in seclusion in the monastery: 

“You said love was our priceless fate but it ended up a disaster; 

“You said we would be together forever but you lied; 

“You said you would miss me when you were away but left me only desolation; 

“You said that you would never change your mind but I never saw you again since we parted… 

When the song was over, the ship was filled with bursts of applause. 

Standing by the lakeside, Kamryn came to her senses from the singing and couldn’t help saying, “It sounds great.” 

Charlie took her hand and said casually, “This ship is actually a restaurant.” 

“It’s a restaurant?” 

“Hmm?” 

Following Charlie’s gaze, Kamryn finally understood when she looked at the signboard on the ship, which read “South Lake Restaurant 

“What an impressive restaurant.” 

“The braised fish here is the best.” 

With that, Charlie took her hand and carefully helped her onto the stone bridge leading to the painted ship. When they walked into the ship, he led her to a table by the window and sat down. 

Kamryn looked around and was surprised to see many diners on the ship. 

“Didn’t you tell me that the scenic area is only open to us tonight?”

Charlie poured her a cup of tea and said lightly. “They are residents of South Lake.”

Kamryn picked up her teacup. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw a good–looking singer in a traditional costume walking over. The singer stopped at their table and slightly bowed to him. 

“Good evening. Mister, Miss! Do you want to hear any songs?” 

Charlie nodded. After a glance at Kamryn, he turned to the singer and said, “Today is my first date with her. She’s attracted by your singing. How about you sing another good song?” 

“I’m grateful for your appreciation. I’ll perform a good song right away. Hope you can enjoy it.” 

Then, she returned to her seat with the guitar in her arms, 

Kamryn could not help but feel a little surprised by the singer’s soft and gentle tone. 

On the small stage on the ship, several women dressed in traditional costumes were sitting by some classical instruments. 

Charlie ordered braised fish and some classic dishes in the restaurant. After a while, the instruments were played again. 

The singer began to sing gently as she played the guitar.

Kamryn was immersed in the music. When she looked out of the window, she was attracted by the red glows not far away. 

In the dark night, the calm lake suddenly rippled, creasing the reflection of the crescent moon. 

On the stone bridge not far away, several children put the candles into the river. From a distance, the red glows of candles. twinkled on the lake in the dark, looking so beautiful that it took her breath away. 

Kamryn was fascinated. She had never seen such a charming scene. 

She lost herself in such a bewitching scenery. 

The singer continued to sing. “In March, we are in a sea of flowers. 

“In April, we are bathed in the sunset.

The candles slowly floated over along the river. 

Kamryn finally saw clearly that the candles had been put into champagne roses. 

The champagne roses looked beautiful. 

These little lamps made with candles in the roses were very delicate. They slightly rotated along the flow. At first glance, she felt as if they were among the bright stars.
