Besides announcing the wedding date, Charlie also apologized to the public for the engagement ceremony that stirred up a fuss online recently. 

He carried himself with grace and spoke in a calm and polite tone. 

“I didn’t expect everyone to be so into this thing. Maybe it caused some bad vibes. But I have no regrets. Life looks like a long haul, but it’s actually a flash in the pan. I want to give her the best in these limited days. After marrying her, we will also do more good deeds in our own names.” 

As he grinned calmly. Nicole watched him on the TV from the hospital room. She rubbed her bump softly, a hint of icy sarcasm in her mouth.

Kamryn looked at her blankly as Nicole’s voice sounded almost cruel, like a curse that instantly nailed her to a cross. 

With that, she suddenly felt the entire world turn incredibly bleak. 

Just a few moments ago, an unknown phone call jolted her awake. 

She had been napping, but an urgent ringtone startled her. She glanced at the screen but only found an unfamiliar number without a contact name. 

She hesitated to answer the call and heard Nicole’s icy voice. “Kamryn!” 

Kamryn immediately snapped out of her drowsiness. 

“Nicole” 

She recognized Nicole’s voice in an instant. Her voice was snooty and scornful, dripping with cold malice and a mysterious 

smugness. 

Kamryn swiftly sat up in bed, her expression turning ice–cold. 

“Nicole, your family was worried sick when you disappeared. They were dying to find you.” 

“Kamryn, I have some news to announce to you.” 

Nicole had enough of Kamryn’s bullshit. She just snapped, “Queen Café downtown. Eight o’clock sharp. See you.” 

Then she slammed the phone down before Kamryn could say anything. 

Kamryn was stunned by Nicole’s invitation.

Chapter 258 

It felt like a showdown. 

At first, she didn’t care much about it. But as the time got closer to seven, she started to get curious about what bomb Nicole was going to drop. 

She was tense and anxious as she glanced at the clock on the wall. 

She thought that since Nicole had chosen a spot in downtown, there was no risk of any dirty tricks she might pull. 

Besides, she had to get even with her for one thing. 

She knew that Charlie had left early in the morning to handle some urgent matters with his crew. 

It was already seven o’clock, and he still hadn’t shown up at home yet. It seemed like he wouldn’t come back for dinner. 

So, after a few brief instructions to Eugene, Kamryn bolted out to the café. 

Nicole had arrived early and sent Kamryn the number of a private room. As the waiter took her to the room and opened the door, she saw the long–lost woman. 

“Hi, Kamryn.” 

To her surprise, Nicole’s face didn’t show the fierce animosity she had anticipated. It was kind of freaky, 

In the past, Nicole would have gritted her teeth, and her eyes would have been as icy as a serpent, ready to devour her whole. 

But today was different. 

She smiled gracefully, her gaze serene, with light makeup that was different from her past garish looks. Her bright eyes and pink lips gave her a pure and elegant vibe, yet she was still dazzling 

She sat in her seat and, when she spotted Kamryn, politely waved to the chair, inviting her to sit. 

Kamryn only felt more suspicious. 

She had prepared herself for Nicole’s sudden attack and angry rant the moment they saw each other. 

But now, the friendly act Nicole put on seemed like a completely different person. 

If it wasn’t for the somewhat familiar face, she would have wondered whether this woman in front of her was actually Nicole. 

“Take a seat.” 

Kamryn didn’t hesitate and walked over, sitting across from her. 

“What’s your game this time?” 

“What do you want to drink?” 

Nicole interrupted her without a second thought, flipping through the menu. 

Kamryn’s face stiffened for a moment, and she scowled slightly. “A glass of juice.” 

Nicole instantly turned her head and said, “A glass of juice.” 

The waiter nodded and politely left the room. 

Then the room went quiet. 

As Nicole stirred her warm milk, the rich aroma of milk filled the air. 

Both of them sat silently. 

Kamryn quietly observed her, wondering what Nicole’s real agenda was for inviting her. 

She knew Nicole would hurt her no matter what, since there was always a sense of evil in her.

Kamryn held the glass of juice, silently feeling the coolness in her palms, while Nicole’s sharp and assertive voice once again echoed in her ears. 

“I’ve been pregnant for over a month. It was during the time you were pregnant that Charlie and I had a fling. Men always like to mess around. Don’t blame Charlie; we’ve both really enjoyed each other”
