The manager thought, “Damn it! Today has been the worst day ever. I’ve pissed off the wrong guy. I’ve been working hard to run a business, and now I have to worry about who I’ve offended. 

After the staff were out, Zackery and Rose made their way to the private room. As soon as they opened the door, they saw Nicole sitting in front of a table, looking totally lost and crushed, as if she had been hit by a truck 

Rose was about to go to her when Zackery raised his hand to stop her. 

“Back off!” 

Zackery was already in a bad mood after being woken up. Seeing Rose trying to stick up for Nicole at this hour, his tone naturally turned stern. 

He walked straight over, stopping right next to Nicole without even saying her name. He grabbed her by the collar and viciously slapped her face. 

It made a sound as loud as thunder. 

The whole private room seemed to be filled with the resounding echoes of the slap 

Nicole was knocked onto the sofa by the slap. She sat there, numb and still, slowly raising her head.

Rose felt her heart broken at the sight, but she didn’t dare to do anything, just standing there sadly. 

Nicole had cried bitterly for a long time, and her voice became hoarse. She didn’t seem to notice Zackery leading people into the room, sitting there with no reaction whatsoever. 

The slap stopped her from crying. But even though the tears had stopped, she still seemed dazed and lost. 

Then her gaze slightly shifted, and for a moment, she didn’t get what had just happened. She climbed up from the sofa, feeling the burning pain on her face, her head still ringing from the impact. 

When her vision regained focus, she looked again and realized that Zackery had arrived. It was only then that she belatedly. realized that the thunderous slap had come from his hand.

Zackery was furious, wishing he could slap her a few more times. A single slap couldn’t calm his anger. But looking at her made him feel somehow sorry. 

He thought, ‘Nicole has returned to Faycaster with a baby. How could I stand that? As a lady from a prestigious family, she had a baby before getting married. Who the hell is the father of this kid? And what the hell was she thinking? She just ran off and came back with a bun in the oven. She’s trying to kill me, that’s what she’s doing. I’ve always loved my kids, but I’ve also been tough on them. If this gets out, it will ruin our reputation and my status. I was hoping she would marry Charlie, but now she has a child. His words made Rose nod helplessly and hold back her tears and sorrow. But tears filled 

her eyes. 

Nicole, seeing Zackery’s explosive anger, became even more scared and fearful, crying even harder. 

She always respected Zackery, her father. He was usually kind and gentle, but when he got angry, he was a ticking time bomb. 

“What right do you have to cry here like a blubbering idiot? Tell me, how did you get a baby? You have no shame about getting knocked up and then coming back here to cry. You’re acting all sorry now, but what were you doing before?” 

His harsh words made Nicole’s eyes even more swollen. 

Zackery never set eyes on Charlie. 

Charlie sneered inside. 

He thought, Zackery is such a snob! In the past, whenever I saw him, no matter how big the problem was, I would always nicely greet him. But maybe because he heard something or found out that I had proposed to Kamryn now, he realized he has no chance between Nicole and me, so he just acts like I don’t exist. 

He wasn’t a wimp and decided to fire back. In front of everyone, he said with a contempt tone. “Your daughter, I don’t know what’s wrong with her. She stole my sperm from the gene bank, snuck off abroad, and had an IVF baby” 

Zackery’s eyes popped out in shock. “What?” 

Rose, standing next to them, was also stunned, her eyes wide open.
