Charlie grinned wickedly and got up, acting like he was leaving. 

Zackery quickly grabbed him, saying. “You can’t do this. Are you really ready to ruin Nicole personally?” 

Charlie coolly said, “What’s the big deal?” 

Zackery’s eye twitched as he saw Charlie’s scornful look. He was about to blow up, but then he saw his disappointing daughter in the other car. He held back his anger and asked patiently. “When do you want it?” 

“Tomorrow.” 

“That’s too soon; it might not work.” 

Charlie smiled coldly and said, “I don’t have much patience. You have three days. Either give me 200 million dollars or sign over the land to me” 

With that, he waved his hand emotionlessly and got in his 

car. 

Zackery was livid, clenching his teeth. It felt like this guy was slicing him up, piece by piece, blood dripping. In just a few minutes, he had snagged a piece of land worth millions. He couldn’t help but boil with rage. 

On the way back, Kamryn wondered what Zackery wanted when he called him earlier. Charlie told her everything about their talk 

Kamryn was stunned, her mouth wide open. 

She exclaimed, “Isn’t that blackmail? 

Charlie, however, defended himself, saying, “I got that land with my own skills; it has nothing to do with blackmail.” 

Kamryn stuck out her tongue at him, thinking. It was totally blackmail; there was no question about it. 

But Charlie did have some skills. He hit Zackery where it hurt. If Nicole’s scandal about getting knocked up before marriage got out, it would hurt the Duarte Group badly. 

On one hand, there was a hundred–million–dollar project, and on the other hand, there was the shaky market value of the Duarte Group. After weighing the pros and cons, Zackery knew he had to give in. 

Even though it was just giving in a little, this deal was a huge loss for Zackery.

Charlie was more crafty than she thought 

She thought Zackery must feel choked on the way home.

In the back seat, Rose held Nicole tenderly, soothing her by rubbing her back. Zackery sat next to Rose; his face turned pale with anger, and his eyes were sharply focused ahead. He gave off a stormy vibe, and even though the car was silent for a while, It was more like the calm before the storm. 

Rose carefully peeked at Zackery’s face. She really wanted to know what they had talked about, which made Zackery look so pissed. But she didn’t have the guts to ask because of his angry expression. 

After a long silence, Rose couldn’t take it anymore. After choosing her words, she cautiously asked, “What did you and Charlie

“Don’t say that jerk’s name in front of me!” Zackery yelled, cutting her off with rage. 

His scary tone shocked Rose, and she opened her eyes wide, looking at him with some confusion. She didn’t get why he was so mad. But seeing his fury, she didn’t dare to keep asking. So she smartly shut her mouth. 

But her silence didn’t mean that Zackery had cooled down. 

He was full of anger, looking for a way to let it out. When she asked, it gave him a chance to vent. All of a sudden, he turned his head and stared at her, his face red. He shouted angrily, “That damn kid has some balls. Considering our long–time friendship with his family, I hoped he would keep quiet about Nicole’s situation. But guess what he said?” 

Rose shook her head in confusion, asking, “What did he say?” 

As Charlie’s name was mentioned, Nicole, who had been spacing out, finally perked up. Her blank eyes got some focus. Wilson, sitting in the front seat, also perked up with curiosity, listening closely. 

“He would like to keep the secret, but he wants a ton of money to shut up.
