Chapter 284 

The following day was sunny. 

Kamryn had a good sleep the previous night. When she woke up, it was already ten o’clock in the morning. 

She sat up in a daze and rubbed her eyes, only to find that Charlie was no longer in bed. Half of the curtains were drawn, and a bright beam of sunlight shone on the solid, soft carpet. 

She was a little surprised and happy when she realized that the sun had risen. 

She got out of bed, walked to the window, and pulled the curtains open. 

The bright sunshine filled the whole room, surrounding her and making her feel warmer. 

She closed her eyes comfortably and sighed. 

What a nice day! 

It was unusual to have a bright day in Dirke during winter’s start when most days were cloudy and rainy. This often caused people to feel down. 

Due to the poor weather conditions, Charlie had been strict with Kamryn lately. She wasn’t permitted to go outside and their air purifier was constantly running. Although the purifier effectively kept outdoor pollutants away, she felt stagnant and bored from being confined indoors. 

“I love sunny days so much. It’s pleasant to just bask in the sun without doing anything she thought happily as her mood improved. 

Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. 

She turned her head and saw that the door was gently pushed open. Then a small, furry head popped in. 

“Good morning, Eugene!” She walked over with a smile and greeted him gently. 

Eugene looked at her and did not say anything. Then he silently withdrew his head and closed the door. 

Kamryn was stunned and then helpless. 

Ever since Eugene found out about her pregnancy, he had never been close to her again. 

Although they lived in the same house, he always avoided her. Whenever she approached, he would quickly move away, as if deliberately distancing himself from her and shutting himself off. 

But sometimes, he would quietly approach her, conceal himself in a corner, and observe her when she was unaware, looking extremely aggrieved. 

Kamryn had felt distressed when she found him, but Eugene still refused to talk to her. 

As soon as the walked over, he hid and didn’t speak to her. 

Charlie said Eugene was sensitive and always saw her as his biological mother, making him very possessive of her. Now that he knew she was pregnant, he wouldn’t accept it quickly and needed time to adjust. 

As she was pregnant, Charlie dudn’t want her to worry and forbade her from doing anything to improve her relationship with Eugene Beudes, she had been very sleepy recently and felt drained of energy, which made her unable to help Eugene.

After washing up, the changed into some casual clothes and opened the door

“Charlie, why are you still home Don’t you need to go to work today! It’s already 10 am

“It’s Sunday today.” 

“What?” 

She was confused. “It was Wednesday yesterday, wasn’t it?” 

Charlie put the book down and looked at her helplessly. “You’ve been so confused lately. You don’t even know what day it is. Shall I show you the calendar?” 

“Thanks, but you don’t have to!” 

Kamryn was embarrassed and said, “I just woke up and my brain isn’t functioning well yet.” 

“I understand. It’s been said that a pregnant woman will experience a decrease in mental clarity for a duration of three years.” 

Charlie nodded seriously with a playful smile. 

“Hey, you’re going too far! How am I stupid?” Kamryn rolled her eyes at him grumpily. Right before she was about to walk to the dining room to have breakfast, she suddenly noticed an unfamiliar envelope on the coffee table in front of Charlie that revealed a corner of a photo. 

“What’s this?” she asked while walking over curiously. 

Before she could take a few more glances, Charlie closed the envelope. 

“It’s not suitable for you to look at this. There’s too much violence.” 

“What is it?” 

“It’s a picture of Wilson that Tillman sent me this morning.” 

Charlie didn’t hide it from her. 

“Wilson” 

When Kamryn heard the name, she frowned and asked casually, “What happened to him?” 

“He’s in the hospital. I heard he’s badly hurt and one of his legs is disabled. But he won’t die. 

“What?! 

Kamryn widened her eyes in surprise and was full of doubt. 

For Kamryn, it was just a piece of surprising and confusing news that Wilson was in the hospital after being seriously hurt. 

However, for the Duarte family, it was like a bolt from the blue! 

Early this morning, around three or four o’clock, Zackery, who had just returned from a dinner party, smelling of alcohol, was tossing and turning on his bed.
