Nicole was quite anxious and sweating profusely. “Please don’t cry, Mommy. Can you tell me what’s happening?” 

Rose and Zackery had only two children, Nicole and Wilson, who were very close to each other. Nicole felt anxious and concerned knowing that Wilson was in the hospital, seriously hurt.

Nicole quickly agreed without even changing out of her pajamas. She threw on a coat and rushed to the hospital with her parents. 

When they arrived at the hospital, it was already 4:30 am.

They rushed over to the bed and saw Wilson lying still with an oxygen mask on his face, his head wrapped in thick gauze. His eyes were shut, and his face was black and blue. One of his legs was wrapped in bandages, and his body was covered in cuts and bruises. 

Tears streamed down Rose’s face, and she was out of breath from crying so hard. 

Nicole, with red eyes, asked the doctor in concern, “How is my brother? How did he get so badly injured?” 

Zackery’s face revealed distress upon seeing his son’s injury. He then glared at the doctor with a cold, sharp gaze, 

“You must be the family members of the injured.” 

The doctor took off his mask and said with a serious look, “He’s in critical condition. His life is still at risk. He needs to be moved to the ICU for observation immediately.” 

Kay! Just do it!” 

“And his right leg is severely injured, like it has been hit hard. There are broken bones below his knees and his tendons are damaged too. Based on the injury, even if he makes a recovery, his leg will likely not return to its normal state. Please be prepared for this mentally.” 

The Duarte family’s faces suddenly turned pale.

He weakly opened his eyes and felt dizzy at first, but his vision cleared up gradually. He found himself in the ICU, staring at a pale ceiling. From the corner of his eye, he noticed his mother and sister standing guard beside him. 

Nicole watched over him all night, resting her head on the bed’s edge. When she noticed he moved, she immediately looked up and saw that he had woken up. Her face lit up with excitement. 

“Wilson… you’re awake!” 

Wilson looked at her and tried to speak, but the cut on his lip caused him to inhale sharply in pain and frown. 

“Don’t move. You’re seriously injured.” 

Nicole held his hand tightly with pity and her eyes were full of tears. “I’m getting the doctor over right away. Wait a minute?”
