Chester had arrived.

Chester grabbed Elliot by the collar and shoved him outside.

Elliot froze, then turned to me.

"It's late. Why is he even here? Wasn't this all an act?"

I grabbed the marriage certificate off the shoe cabinet, held it up in front of him, and flipped it open to show both my name and Chester's.

"Elliot, who told you I was acting?"

"Unlike you, I don't hand out wedding vows and marriage licenses to different people."

His pupils dilated in shock, his face turning pale.

"No way… You wouldn't… You've always loved me!"

I let out a short laugh.

"Well, I don't anymore. How many times do I have to say it?"

Elliot shook his head.

"I don't believe it! We were together for nine years."

"You've only known him for a few days-how could you possibly love him already?"

I pulled Chester closer.

"Ever heard of love at first sight?"

Elliot's gaze flicked between us, desperately searching for cracks in my words.

Tea leaves still clung to his hair, and his soaked shirt clung to his frame, making him look utterly pathetic.

Chester gave him a once-over, unimpressed, then turned to me lazily.

"Babe, I'm tired. Let's go to bed."

I smiled sweetly at Elliot.

"It's my wedding night. Feel free to eavesdrop if you'd like."

Chester and I had just turned around when Elliot suddenly lost it and swung a punch at Chester.

Chester was faster.

Before I even registered what had happened, Elliot was already on the ground.

He scrambled up and lunged at Chester again.
