Meredith thought maybe Valerie had fooled around with men before she got together with her wealthy husband, or Valerie had cheated.

Meredith was far too curious and quickly arranged a meeting with Juliette.

Usually, Meredith did things together with Jasmine, but today, she didn’t want Jasmine to know anything about this supposed Valerie’s secret. After all, this secret was serious enough to destroy Valerie’s.

The third round of the competition would be streamed live tomorrow night. Meredith and Jasmine had become nearly invisible in recent days, skipping classes and carrying themselves around the campus with pride and disdain in their eyes. They already saw themselves as belonging to a different class, no longer considering their peers on the same level.

Recently, Elbert had been getting close to Adrienne. Seeing the arrogant way Meredith carried herself, Elbert rolled her eyes and said, “Seriously, what’s the big deal? It’s only the second round. The results aren’t even finalized, and she already thinks she’s some kind of champion or professional singer.”

Adrienne was also annoyed by Meredith’s attitude. She muttered, “Just wait, If she didn’t rise by her own talent, she’s going to fall just as fast. I really don’t know what she’s so proud of.”

“Exactly.” Elbert sipped his smoothie. “What’s Valerie been up to lately? I haven’t seen her around at all.”

Adrienne said, “She’s been preparing for the city–level jewelry competition. She’s working hard on that to win and then go for an internship.”

“She still needs to find an internship or job?” Elbert was irritated. “With her grades and her rich husband, she could just graduate and lie at home doing nothing. Why go through the trouble of interning?”

Adrienne sighed and said with a sympathetic look, “That’s the difference between a salted fish and a real talent. It’s only natural that you’re stuck as a

salted fish.”

Elbert was momentarily speechless. “1…”

The two exchanged glances, sighed in unison, and decided to refocus on their studies.

Meanwhile, Valerie was busy preparing for the jewelry competition.

She attended classes during the day, practiced piano and recorded songs after school, and spent her evenings drafting new designs. Occasionally, she kept an eye on the stock market, investing and analyzing data. Whatever money she made, she quietly stashed away.

Through her experience trading stocks, Valerie had suffered losses, but she always managed to cut her losses in time. Her losses were never large. By now, she had become a super VIP client at the Industrial and Commercial Bank, with a personal account balance of 2.5 million dollars in cash.

She had secretly saved money. She spent less than a thousand dollars a month, using Aiden’s card. Since their marriage, he covered all her expenses, including food, clothing, housing, and transportation, making things better than before.

After some inquiries, Valerie learned that the development would open for sale the next day. So she rushed to finish all her work today to leave her schedule clear for tomorrow’s house–hunting.

Valerie had just about wrapped everything up. She placed her finished design drafts into her notebook and was just about to leave when someone suddenly appeared in front of her desk.

With a friendly smile on her face, Meredith approached and said, “Valerie, are you done? Do you have a moment? I’d like to treat you to a cup of coffee.
