Everything in their home had been Jessica’s touch–every piece of furniture, every decoration, every careful detail she’d arranged.
Since Jessica left, Jacob had been almost afraid to play freely in the house, terrified he might accidentally break something she had placed there
But now Brian was saying they had to leave.
Once they moved to the new place, Jacob would never see the things Jessica left behind again.
The more Jacob thought about it, the sadder he became. His little head drooped lower and lower.
Brian crouched and placed a firm hand on Jacob’s shoulder. “Dad doesn’t want to leave either, but Morn’s in danger right now. We need to protect her, s5 we must leave home for a while. But I promise we’ll all come back together someday.”
He’d said a lot, but Jacob only caught the words about Jessica being in danger.
“What danger? Is Mom okay? Dad, I want to see Mom!” Jacob grabbed Brian’s sleeve anxiously, tugging at it. “Let’s go, Dad! Let’s go now! I don’t need any of my stuff. Let’s just go see Mom.”
Compared to Jessica, the house he’d grown up in meant nothing.
“Easy, son. I’ve already got security watching your mother. I’m here to get you and your things so we can all be together.” Brian placed a steady hand on Jacob’s shoulder, trying to calm him down.
“Is Mom okay right now? I don’t need my stuff. We can buy new things later.”
Jacob couldn’t think straight. All he wanted was to get to Jessica as fast as possible.
“She is fine. Don’t worry–I’ve got everything under control. I won’t let anything happen to her.”
Brian gently guided Jacob back to the couch, then headed upstairs to grab the two large suitcases Sylvie had packed with Jacob’s belongings. After that, he went to pack his own clothes.
He still couldn’t stand letting anyone except Jessica touch his personal things. After she left, he’d learned to do all the household tasks himself.
Now, he knew he could care for Jessica and Jacob properly, even if it was just him.
The problem was that no matter how much he begged, Jessica refused to give him that chance.
Brian let out a silent sigh. He packed his essentials quickly, grabbed his suitcase, and headed downstairs.
At the entrance, Jacob was already waiting, unable to stay calm. The moment he saw Brian coming down, he urged him frantically.
“Dad, hurry up! If we’re any later, it’ll be dark, and what if that bad guy goes to scare Mom again?!”
He was about to lose his mind with worry!
Brian scoffed, “Good. I’m waiting for him to show up.”
He had stationed bodyguards at the residential complex and downstairs at Jessica’s building. If the person dared to come, it would save the trouble.
Jacob thought about it and realized Brian was right.
Now that he, Brian, and the bodyguards were here, they could catch him red–handed and get revenge for Jessica if that person dared to show up.
