The next morning Mia found her shimmery body-con dress by the couch. Hanging by the side. She blearyly blinked her eyes open and looked around before realising that she's in an unknown place. It took her full ten seconds to realise that its Damon's room. Her boss was still sleeping beside when her phone started ringing. She quickly slipped on her dress, grabbed her phone and slipped out the door.
Last night was blurry of events. The only thing she remembered was giving her boss a blowjob in the tiny stall. What happened after that? Maybe she should ask him that.
The phone started ringing again. She shot one last regretful look at her boss before quickly putting distance between them.
On her way outside, she answered the phone.
"Hello, mom."
"You sound like you've just woken up."
As if to confirm, her mouth stretched with a yawn. "I have."
Her mother sighed. "Alright. Check the post. You should have gotten something from me by now"
Soon enough Mia realised with glaring certainty that she's just stepped on a landmine. She couldn't check the post because she wasn't in her apartment. Perhaps, if she were more awake or more accustomed to lying to her mum in her adulthood, she could forge a suitable explanation. But none of those things are true.
"That's okay. I'll get it later."
"Honey, please, do it now. It's important."
"What is it?" She asked. Because Mia can fake a reaction easily, after all, she did have drama in her high school. What better time to use those skills?
"It's a surprise. Just go look for me, please?"
Okay, she couldn't do it.
Mia screwed her eyes shut. "I can't. I'm not-I'm not home."
"But you've just woken up, haven't you?" Her mother said in a confused voice. They're both quiet for long minutes, and she could hear the wheels turning, spinning wildly in her mother's head.
"Mia...Honey, does that mean you met someone?"
"I just spent the night elsewhere, that's all."
"With a person? A man?" Her mother asked hurriedly, her voice low and full of wonder. Somehow Mia tried not to let that surprising tone offend her.
"No, mom. He's a lovely demon from another dimension. Came to earth to have few drinks and then we started talking. One thing led to another-"
Her mother made a sound, cutting her off. "Okay okay, I get it."
Mia smiled.
"Also you are so ridiculous. I don't know what you're up to, but you know I always find out. And I'd much rather you tell me before I do."
"If there's anything to tell you, I will," She shrugged, licking her lips.
It didn't feel like a lie. The truth was that Mia had nothing to tell her. Technically, there wasn't a man in her life. Damon is her boss. They have had a number of- exciting encounters. But that's it until one of them said something.
Nothing to report now. Nothing to say probably ever, if she's honest.
"Okay, I believe you. Call me when you've returned home and checked the post," Her mother crooned softly.
Mia promised her that she would, increasingly curious about what it was that her mother sent. By the time the assistant made it to the door, she ended the call, and tucked the phone in her bag.

As soon as she was about to take a turn in the garage, a familiar voice echoed around. The hair on her neck stood up, and Mia stilled.
"Don't leave."
The assistant swung her gaze towards the door. As expected Damon was suddenly standing near his door, eyes narrowed in her direction. He was leaning back against the door frame with nothing but boxers hanging low on his hips. He's not one of those people who gets shy the morning after.
As she got closer, Mia noticed a slight heat in her boss's gaze, though that could just be him grimacing against the glare of the sun on his face.
"You weren't meant to follow me," She breathed.
He frowned, "I just wanted to make sure you were alright. Usually, people say bye before they leave, you know."
"Yeah, but I imagined you wouldn't care."
"I do."
Somewhere in the back of her head, there's a voice telling her what a lousy idea this was, how this path toward Damon was the path towards disaster and perhaps heartbreak. She should stop letting him break her defences and cave in so easily.
Mia took a step further. As he started pulling her closer, she quickly went in. So pathetic, she thought under her breath. The assistant hoped that he would make this hard for her. She wished he would push her away, talk some sense into her brain.
As soon as they crashed together, her mouth parted, moulding her body along his warm chest. His eyes widened, darting over her flushed face. They just looked at each other, chests expanding with deep breaths.
"I'm going to kiss you," He whispered, the cold breath fanning her face.
"Yeah, but last night was really fun," She croaked. Actually, it's true. More fun than she's had in a long time. Sexually, at least, which was a huge thing. But he didn't need to know that.
But any more than that, it's irresponsible, and her poor mum would be disappointed. If she found out that is.
He nodded his head. "Yeah, but it can't happen again."
"The drinking or the sex?" She coyly asked, very well knowing that he's referring to the drinking part. Mia didn't handle her alcohol well, judging by the fact she doesn't remember most of the night.
"I'm serious Mia. You almost puked on yourself, which is why I had to get you out of that dress."
She wrinkled her nose at that, staring at her shimmery dress. As if he read her mind, Damon shook his head.
"I washed it last night. Don't worry."
Mia twisted her lips at that. No wonder it's on the other side of the bed. "I'm sorry."
"We're good, yeah?"
He bobbed his head. "Yeah, we are alright."

After that, she decided to stay for breakfast, make some for both of them while her boss showered. It wasn't anything like that. They both were hungry, and she offered to cook.
"Hi," Damon walked in the kitchen.
Mia narrowed her eyes at his sudden cheery tone but instead replied with a quiet, "Hey" before going back to whisking the eggs.
It's too distracting to focus with his eyes raking over her body. Several questions were roaming in her head that she wanted to ask. But with his hair still dripping down his bare chest, it made her awestruck.
The CEO inched closer, didn't look at her as he started talking, his eyes focused on the flame and the pan. "I was just thinking," he began quietly, "It might be better for both of us if we just talked. That could solve a lot of fight."
Her lips twitched at that. Amused, she turned to him. "Did you think of that all by yourself?"
"Yes." Damon glared at her. "Why?"
She giggled. "Nothing."
