“Mandy, c’mere help me fix this damn remote!” Kevin hollered from the living room. I rolled my eyes and turned the volume up on my iPod, continuing to flip through my magazine.

“Ain’t you hear me calling ya girl!!”

I gave a frustrated groan and hopped out of bed, in my short shorts and a small top without bothering to grab my robe. It was the middle of June in Alabama which meant long, burning hot days. Kevin, my mama’s latest dead-beat boyfriend was not making the situation any better.

His selfish ass kept the biggest fan in the house right in front of his damn face and moved all the cold beers to a small cooler right near the couch. Fuck does this jerk want now? I muttered to myself, entering the living room and crossing my arms.

“What?”

“You watch yer mouth, princess?” He said pointing the remote at me. “This damn thing’s broken again.”

I snatched the remote out of his hand and gave it a couple of whacks. “Might be because you’re using it all damn day. Ain’t you got nothing else to do Kevin? How about you make yourself useful and go cut the grass or something?”

“Cut the backtalk or I may just pass the time putting that pussy to work.”

I snorted and took the empty beer bottles off the coffee table to go throw them in the bin. “It’s too damn hot to fuck. Plus you ain’t earned nothing around here anyway.”

“You know I don’t need to earn nothing, this is my house and I’ll spread you open like a book whenever I feel like it.”
