Your maid is quite interesting,” Ariana remarked. 

“I was only summoned back by Mr. Lodge yesterday. Why would I randomly disable the surveillance? Even though 

I stayed at the Lodge residence for three months, I’m not one of your family’s maids. How would I know where the main power switch is? Besides, you’re practically the only one working here today. Why would I, ay from a prestigious family, have any reason to frame you?” 

Avery frantically explained to Brian, “It wasn’t me! I swear! Mr. Lodge, I’m being framed!” 

Brian furrowed his brow in frustration. “Enough!” 

He was well aware that his household staff had often bullied Ariana behind his back 

He’d simply been too lazy to intervene on her behalf, hoping she would give up and leave. 

But this time, Avery had gone too far.

“The Lodge family doesn’t need employees who behave like this. Go collect your salary for the month. From today onward, you no longer work for the Lodge family,” he said coldly. 

Seeing Brian’s firm decision, Avery’s face turned even paler “Mr. Lodge, please believe me! I didn’t do it!” 

“Take her away,” Brian ordered, unwilling to waste any more time on such a petty matter. 

After a moment, Emily swiftly escorted Avery out. 

Ariana adjusted the bath towel around her and asked, “Mr. Lodge, may I go upstairs and change now?” 

Noticing that Ariana was still partially undressed, Brian took off his jacket and tossed it to her. “Go change and come back down. I need to ask you something.” 

Ariana glanced at the jacket, then tossed it back at him. “Thank you for your kindness, Mr. Lodge.” 

Brian’s expression darkened as the jacket was thrown back at him. 

Ariana was becoming bolder by the day. 

Ariana changed upstairs and then came back down. 

As expected, Brian was sitting quietly on the sofa, waiting for her. 

She couldn’t help but think back to her past life when she would watch Brian from afar. 

Back then, he despised her, so she always kept her distance and never dared to approach him. 

But things were different. Without the affection she once felt for him, Brian was nothing more than a vaguely attractive stranger to her. 

“Mr. Lodge, I’m here. What did you want to ask me?” 

The moment Ariana finished speaking, Brian tossed something at her. “Put this on. 

“What?” 

Ariana frowned as she looked down at the sky–blue gown in her hands, its sequins sparkling like a mermaid’s tail. 

“What is this?” 

“Didn’t you say you liked it?”

Ariana’s frown deepened. 

She suddenly recalled a moment from her past life when she had accompanied Brian on a shopping trip at Belinda’s request. 

She had gazed at a sky–blue gown in a display case for what felt like ages. 

At the time, Brian hadn’t even noticed her. 

She had assumed he wouldn’t remember, but it seemed she was wrong. 

“Why are you giving me this?” 

She had already caused him so much trouble, and now he was buying her clothes? 

Everything about it felt so strange. 

“Are you going to change or not?” Brian’s voice carried an edge of impatience.
