Chapter 25

Among the crowd, Brian scoffed.

Was Ariana trying to grab his attention with this? How laughable.

“200 million dollars,” he said firmly.

Did she really think he wouldn’t be able to deal with her?

“250 million dollars,”

“300 million!”

As the bidding escalated into absurd territory, Evelyn frowned. “Brian, this land isn’t worth that much.” Brian frowned as well.

Beside him, Emily said lowly, “Mr. Lodge, the price has exceeded our estimated value.”

Hearing this, Brian smiled coldly.

Ariana did not have much money to begin with. She was clearly only bidding to be contrary.

Fine, then. He would teach her a lesson tonight, even if it meant taking a loss.

Coldly, he called out, “320 million dollars!”

William watched in satisfaction as Brian took the bait.

According to his estimation, Brian had already taken a loss of 50 million dollars at this point.

He hadn’t expected Ariana to be so cunning, goading Brian into taking the bait.

He had underestimated her.

Just as he was about to tell Ariana to stop bidding, she raised her paddle again. “500 million dollars!”

An audible wave of shock rippled through the audience.

500 million dollars?

For what, a piece of land?

Even the auctioneer paused in disbelief. He was sure he hadn’t misheard her–but this piece of land, situated in the southern outskirts of the city, was valued at only 100 million dollars.

Hadn’t the bidding only reached 320 million dollars seconds ago?

“Wrong. I was sent by the universe to save you.”

“Save me? By making me lose 500 million dollars?”

Across the hall, Evelyn, seeing Brian’s outburst earlier, asked tentatively, “Brian, if Ms. Torrey lost so much money, would the Torreys face trouble?”

“Trouble?” Brian laughed coldly.

Was that even a question?

The Torreys did not have a lot of liquidated assets in the first place, and now, Ariana splurged 500 million dollars on a piece of land without any preparation.

One wrong move, and they could go bankrupt.

Ariana was digging her own grave, and this time, she only had herself to blame.

The gavel struck true, and the land at South Gleaston was sold to Ariana.

Ariana just watched the scene unfold calmly.

None of them knew exactly how valuable this piece of land would be in the future.
