Chapter 33 

Brian said flippantly, “Ariana can clean up her own mess, then. She’s nothing without the Torrey family” 

Just then, his landline rang, and he answered it. An employee from the front desk was on the line. She said, ” There’s a lady from the Torrey family who’s here for you, Mr. Lodge.” 

He leaned back when he heard that Ariana had arrived and shorted. “Let her up.” 

“Yes, sir.” The employee hung up. 

Soon, Fiona arrived outside Brian’s office. She wore a white dress reminiscent of what Evelyn would wear. She entered the office to see Brian poring over some documents 

He didn’t even look up as he asked mockingly, “So, have you come to beg for mercy?” 

“Mr. Lodge… It’s me. Fiona Piper,” she said. 

He frowned and looked up when he heard that it wasn’t Ariana. 

Fiona lowered her head, her face red with embarrassment. “Mr. Lodge, 1-” 

“Who told you to come here?” he asked coldly. 

This took Fiona aback. She couldn’t help feeling disappointed when she noticed how his current attitude was completely different from last night. 

She said in a small voice, “I came to thank you, Mr. Lodge. Thank you for helping me get into Glea College.” Brian looked impatient. “Are you done?” 

“Y–Yes.” 

His gaze turned frosty when he saw Fiona dressed in the same way Evelyn did. “Get lost, then.” 

Even if Fiona were a fool, she’d be able to tell that Brian was in a bad mood. 

Emily had been standing in a corner this whole time. She stepped forward and said, “This way, please, Ms. Piper.” 

Fiona bit her lip. She knew Ariana had only managed to catch Brian’s eye because she resembled Evelyn. If Ariana could do it, then so could she! 

“I think your coffee has gone cold, Mr. Lodge. I’ll get you a new cup!” She darted forward to take Brian’s coffee cup from his desk. Then, she ran out of the room with it before he could say anything 

“Mr. Lodge-” Emily started. 

“Call Gwen Lambert and tell her to bring Ariana here right now!” Brian snapped. 

“Yes, sir.” 

Gwen returned home, looking anxious. She saw Ariana lounging on the couch while enjoying some tea. She still wore a nightgown. 

Gwen exclaimed, “What are you still doing at home, Ariana? Didn’t I tell you to go apologize to Mr. Lodge today?” 

“You’re the one who agreed to it, not me. What does it have to do with me?” Ariana sipped her tea and added, “I won’t go to the press conference in three days, let alone apologize to Brian.”

“Oh, you! How can you be so insensible? Do you know how badly the company has been affected after Mr. Lodge withdrew his investment capital? Torrey Co. will be done for if you don’t apologize to him!” 

“You’ve always told me to leave the company in your hands right? You should be the one to bear the responsibility if anything happens to it. If it ends up in del. You’re the one who will have to repay it,” Ariana said leisurely. 

“What did you say?” Gwen was stunned. 

Ariana put on a confused look. “Don’t you know about this? You’re Dad’s widow, so you have to bear his burden. You’ll have to pay off the company’s debts, unless… You give up on inheriting Dad’s assets.”
