“I’m pretty scared of danger, so I like having more people with me when I leave the house,” William said. “That’s why it’s hard to say who’s the one who won’t be leaving this place today.” 

The tension reached a climax. When the group who was celebrating Evelyn’s birthday heard about the showdown, they hurried to the private room. 

Evelyn made her way through the crowd to see Arlana, William, and Brian facing off. Her expression darkened–it was obvious what had happened. William and Brian were fighting over Ariana. 

“What’s going on, Brian?” she asked, suppressing her suspicion. “Didn’t Ms. Torrey already leave? And Mr. Kingsman…” 

Compared to the showdown between Brian and William, everyone was more interested in knowing how William and Ariana were linked. 

After all, he was known for keeping his distance from women. Ariana had once talked bad about him in public, so most of the rumors about him being gay that circulated in the upper crust had started from her. 

Logically speaking, they should’ve been sworn enemies. Yet there they were, standing together. They even looked rather… intimate. 

“That’s a good question, Ms. Granger. Ari already left, so who was it who brought her back here? Who do you think did it, Mr. Lodge?” William didn’t answer Evelyn directly, but his words made it clear that Brian was the one who’d dragged Ariana back. 

As for the reason… it went without saying. 

Evelyn bit her lip and looked at Brian. “Is that true, Brian? 

He frowned without saying anything. Isaac saw something was up and stepped forward to smoothen things over. Brian must’ve spoken to Ms. Torrey privately because they had to discuss tomorrow’s press conference. Don’t try to confuse everyone, William.” 

“You’re absolutely right, Mr. Schofield.” William snapped his fingers and raised an eyebrow with a smile. ” Tomorrow’s press conference starts at 10:00 am, and Mr. Lodge will announce that he and Ari are calling off the engagement.” 

He turned to Evelyn. “Congratulations, Ms. Granger. You can finally have what you’ve been coveting.‘ 

There wasn’t anything wrong with his words, but they sounded insulting. 

Everyone’s eyes landed on Evelyn. She’d always been proud, and her expression was ugly now that William made her sound like a homewrecker. She even started trembling with anger. 

“Let’s go, Ari.” William kept his arm around Ariana’s waist, leading her away from the crowd. 

The scions and heiresses who’d come to celebrate Evelyn’s birthday didn’t dare make a sound.

“Brian…” Evelyn looked at Brian, whose expression was becoming increasingly hideous. As soon as she spoke, he grabbed a beer bottle from the table and smashed it on the floor, sending the shards flying. 

Everyone’s expressions shifted at that. No one had ever managed to piss him off so badly over the years. They couldn’t help thinking that Ariana was insane for daring to have anything to do with both Brian and William. She was basically two–timing them!

Ariana didn’t look too happy as she followed William out of Nyte Club. She asked, “How did you know I was here?” 

He stopped and asked in return, “Do you want to know the answer? How about you guess? I’ll reward you if you get it right.”
