Chapter 387
Maleah’s p.o.v.
I wasn’t sure what I was expecting after he took a look at the file, but I hadn’t expected the calm way he responded to my words. Fortune told me that if his story about Alpha Bradley was any good we should tell him the truth, otherwise we will come up with a good reason as to why we have that file.
I mean, I could make it out as if I wanted more information about the male my Mother took as a Mate and especially with their persistence on me moving to his Pack.
Mother must have been waiting for me as she opens the door before I can knock and I can see that Alpha Bradley is looking at Alpha Dax over my shoulder, he really doesn’t like the fact I brought my Alpha along for this lunch. I can sense there is another Wolf in one of the bedrooms of the suite and I have an inkling feeling that his Son is hiding in there, this doesn’t predict much good.
“There are two more two more Wolves on the balcony. I think it is safe to say they are up to no good and I bet they are hoping it was your Father’s aura that seeped out.” Fortune says as I keep my eyes on my Mother, I don’t want Alpha Bradley to know I can feel the struggle he has with his Wolf and I smile when I feel Alpha Dax leaning closer to me.
I want to stick out my tongue at Alpha Bradley when Alpha Dax tells him he doesn’t trust him, but I can refrain myself from giving in to that urge and when Mother tries to grab my arm Fortune releases a low, menacing roar.
I hope Mother will stop bugging me after today, but I won’t be holding my breath for it. Mother has never been one to take a hint and I doubt she will start today, she just sees and hears what she wants.
As we are making our way back from Alpha Bradley’s suite I am trying to think of the best way to explain the file on Alpha Bradley without telling the truth if need be, but after hearing the story of Luna Elyse I know I will finally tell someone the truth and with that decision I know I will have to tell our former and current leadership the truth as well. I think I might have more trouble telling Dad about my life, a life I think he never wanted for me.
I try to find the best way to explain to Alpha Dax why I have a file on Alpha Bradley, I am glad he gives me the time to think as we eat our lunch and I decide to let Alpha Dax ask me about the file. I clear the dishes of the table and put the tray on the table outside my room, as I walk back to the table I pick up the file on Alpha Bradley and his Son.
“Maleah, can you explain why you have that file in your possession?” Alpha Dax asks as I sit down in my seat.
“I will explain why I have this file, but it will leave you with even more questions. I am willing to answer those questions, but I have a feeling you will want a few other people present when you ask me those questions.” I tell him as I open the file in front of me, I look up at him to see a curious look in his eyes.
I know you tried to look for my protection detail, but Dad and Colter trained them and I doubt you would be able to find them unless they want you to find them. Pauline is the only one that stays with me out in the open and you already know why no one will ever suspect her to be a part of my protection detail, she helps me to find the best way to strike.
She keeps tabs on every individual that is a target, she informs me when they are away from their safe haven and makes sure my schedule fits my assignments. It will take me another day or two before I can wrap things up here and then I will be able to go home for a few days. Will that give you enough time to make sure everyone is in the territory to hear my story?” I ask.
Alpha Dax takes a look at his phone for a few moments, “Yeah, everyone will be in the territory by then. I will put a meeting in our schedule, a meeting concerning Alpha Bradley and your lunch appointment with him and your Mother.
I can guarantee you that everyone will be present, they will want to hear about what happened and I promise you that I won’t say a word about it before then.” Alpha Dax responds and I ask him if his Brothers might torture him to get answers before that day.
“I will tell them that you will be present and will answer any question they have. Mom will make sure they won’t try to get answers from me and I will threaten to tell Mom if they try anyway.” He says with a wink.
