Chapter 415
Mack’s p.o.v.

Kay stumbles back the moment Maleah pulls her aura back in and I see shock on the faces of our Alphas, even I didn’t know an Assassin could pull back their aura that fast. Dad taught me to pull it back slowly to avoid getting dizzy or disoriented, but it doesn’t seem to affect Maleah at all and I think I understand why no one ever heard any of her victims cry for help.

“I believe you owe Alpha Dominic an answer.” Maleah says as she steps back and Dominic steps forward to repeat his question. She glances at Maleah before she tells him she got offered a lot of money for the Pups, all she had to do was make sure they were dropped at a certain spot in the forest and the rest would be taken care of. None of them had counted on Fortune being out there or for Maleah to have the gifts she has.

“How often have you done this?” Maleah asks and I am glad I was keeping an eye on the Sigma or I might have missed the slight paling of her face. “You want another taste of my aura?” Maleah asks when the Sigma keeps quiet and that seems to be enough for her to start talking again. We find out it was the first time for her but not the first time someone working at the orphanage was approached and we find out that on at least two other occasions the drop had been successful.

Levi is writing down everything she is telling us and I know he will look into this until he has uncovered which Pups were sold, he will even try to find out if they are still alive. If they are still alive we will do everything to rescue them and bring them back to the Pack, giving them all the help they need from us. Maleah has been quiet as the Sigma was talking and just as Levi gets ready to take the Sigma back to the dungeons Maleah turns back to the Sigma, “How did they contact you?” She ask.

“I got a phone call from an unknown number and at first I didn’t answer but after they called for the third time I answered the call, they told me I could make easy money. If I wanted to hear about the offer I had to go to Wolfpine, I would meet a female at a diner there and she would explain what I had to do to get paid. Her name was Nishay and at first I was reluctant, until she told me that they would have a good life.” The Sigma says.

Levi gets the unknown number from her phone, before he brings her back to the dungeons. This is going to be a tough decision for our Alphas, she failed in her attempt to sell four Pups and technically she hadn’t committed a crime. She did leave four young Pups to fend for themselves, but other than that she failed in what she wanted to do and I am not sure what my decision would be if I had to make it.

“We have been able to find a few memories of her, but she is usually in the kitchen and I guess we all thought she was one of the Omegas.” Dillon answers me and I remember that as young teens they would always go to the kitchen to get snacks for us, as the future Alphas they always got whatever they asked for. If she spent most her time in the kitchen or with our Alpha and Luna I understand why Commander can’t find a memory of her.

I never felt at ease in the kitchen for some reason, just the smell of vegetables had my skin crawling and it took me until I had Commander to find out why. Apparently as a Pup I wasn’t the smartest one and during a game of hide and seek I hid in the basement under the kitchen, a basement the Omegas use to store the vegetables. I spent hours down there before I was discovered by an Omega, but by that time I was in a total panic because the door had been locked and I couldn’t get out.

Screaming and banging on the door hadn’t helped and it took ages before I was able to sleep with the lights turned off, it took even longer before I was willing to eat any type of vegetables again. “Maleah will laugh her ass off if you ever tell her this story, our Head Assassin locking himself in the basement.” Commander chuckles after I have relived the second worst day of my life and I am glad I have Maleah in my arms.
