Chapter 458
Mack’s p.o.v.
“I suggest that you make a stop along the way and discuss how you plan on making this right with your Mates. When you get home you make your Father understand he is no longer the Alpha, because if my Daughter leaves I am going as well.” Diego says before he walks back to the Pack-house and the look on Dad’s face tells me he won’t before behind Diego to walk out.
We quickly go in search of Alpha Bradley to say our goodbyes, but it turns out a little bit differently than we had planned.
I see Lawson standing in front of Tara, while Alpha Kenyon is growling at Alpha Bradley and I look at my Dad for some answers. “Tara rejected him, but he refuses to accept it.” Dad says through the mind-link and the six of us move as one towards them as Max steps in front of us.
“She can deal with this herself, stay out of it.” He growls softly. “She took him as a Mate because she hoped to gain status and now that he is interested in someone else she wants a way out.”
Max doesn’t have to tell me who Alpha Bradley is interested in, but I wonder how he knows and if his comments to Maleah and Delaney were deliberate.
Dax pushes his Father to the side to walk towards Tara, “Anything we can help with, Tara?” He asks and the look in her eyes tells us that she is in pain from a half broken bond, but she refuses to make a sound. Lawson tells us what is going on and what I already suspected is confirmed, Alpha Bradley was and is after Maleah.
“Alpha Bradley, why don’t you accept her rejection? After all you do not share a true Mate-bond and this gives you the opportunity to find a female that is more suited for you.” I say as I step next to Lawson and I see Alpha Bradley looking around the venue.
“Sorry, but Maleah already left with our Luna. I believe they had a fitting session in Yarlford.” I say as I link the others to tell them it is the one place she will not go to, because that safehouse was no longer usable.
He acts as if he is reluctant to accept her rejection, but after Alpha Kenyon tells him he has no problem to go to war with him he finally accepts her rejection. Lawson lifts Tara in his arms, while Rhys and Alpha Kenyon grab her bags and we follow them to their vehicles to give them a safe passage.
Max is calling out to us but Dominic tells us to ignore him through the mind-link and we get in our own vehicles to head towards home with a little stop along the way.
By the time we get home Commander has settled down a little and we all decide to spend the night in our new home. Every room has been decorated while we were gone and after showing our Alphas around we settle in the living room, talking about our assignment with Maleah.
As we recount every target Dax tells us that he will never upset Maleah, “I don’t want to know what she could do to me, so I am going to be on my best behavior.” He says and Dillon starts laughing his ass off.
We all know that Dax will misbehave, but in a good way. We talk about her remaining assignments, but we have no idea who she will go after next and I doubt it is a good idea to guess about it.
Kay and Dillon had started reading through the document we are all familiar with and they found out that this additional document is mentioned, but as you can guess in rather fine print.
Levi has been trying to find out when this document was drafted and how many Pack-members are aware of this document. Every Pack-member that turns sixteen has to be initiated into the Pack and before their initiation they have to read all the Pack rules, which I can guarantee you didn’t include that document when I was initiated into the Pack.
None of the others had read this document for today and I was hoping Dad or Diego didn’t read it either, the way they are growling tells us all that this is new for them as well.
“Where did you find this?” Diego asks as he looks at me, Dax tells him how he found this document and that we found a small notation on it in the Pack rules document we all know.
“Does anyone mind if I reach out to Harvey? I can’t find anything on when this document was made or who actually read it.” Levi asks and Dillon tells him to go ahead, to even tell Harvey why we want to know that information.
We listen to the conversation Levi has with Harvey and at first he is reluctant to help us, that is until Levi tells him why we want to have those answers. By the time Levi disconnects the call Harvey has promised to get us those answers and I hope he finds them before our Mates return.
