Chapter 467
Kay’s p.o.v.

I know that this needs to be done, but Fuck I really hate the task Maleah gave me. I hate the fact that it concerns Pups, I hate the fact that most of them are dead and I hate the fact that I know what happened or happens to the ones that survived.

Did I already tell you that I really hate this task?

I take a deep breath before I start looking at the papers in front of me, the list is in alphabetical order for the Pack, town or city they came from and I realize quickly that I will see more names of Pups that died during their so-called training than names of the ones that survived.

Most of the Pups came from cities and towns and that actually makes sense. In a Pack someone would start to notice if orphaned Pups would keep disappearing, but there are two Packs that supplied quite a lot of Pups. Packs that are being investigated by Matthew and Caspara and if Caspara is anything like Matthew than we will have enough evidence soon to take those Alphas down.

To every name I write down as Maleah requested, there are a dozen I don’t write down. I grab an extra piece of paper when I find the name of a Pup that is in a different color and after writing a fourth name on that list I am starting to see a pattern. There is exactly a one year gap between each name and each Pup is exactly the same age.

Titan starts growling in my head when I start coming up with reasons for this specific pattern, this is one sick, twisted Asshole. Maleah places her hand on my arm from time to time, but she doesn’t ask anything as she calms me and Titan down.

I sigh in relief when Levi announces that it is lunch time and I think I need to tell the others about my suspicions before we are going to continue with this assignment. I sit as close to Maleah as I can, I need her to keep me calm and it seems as if she understands that without any explanation from me.

Harvey and I are laughing our ass off at Mack’s question, “Mack, our Mate is the only one that can actually do that and you know what?” Levie replies. “They would do it again and again, I think they would even volunteer.” Levi says with a straight face, while the girls join Harvey and myself. Levi is right though, I think those two would volunteer to be her errand boys.

Before I get the chance to bring up my findings Dominic calls us to the infirmary and after locking the door I follow the others to the infirmary. A part of Maleah’s team is waiting for us at the front door and the look on their faces doesn’t predict anything good, “Some Bimbo tried to get into the Luna’s room and she is still trying to get into the room.” One of them growls.

Maleah walks into the infirmary with a face that doesn’t predict much good and I wonder which Pack-member would try to get into Delaney’s room or why. “She tried to gain access by claiming she was a nurse, but when we told her that you had introduced us to the only staff that is allowed entry she started yelling at us.” The same female from before says as we follow Maleah.

“Yeah, she claimed to be the future Luna and wanted to visit her Mate.” I hear a male voice behind me say and I chuckle as I hear Mack ask, “Why did she need to visit her Mate?” I can’t wait to hear the answer to that question.

“She said her Mate got injured during training, that the Head Assassin’s Mate didn’t like it when her Alpha told her she would never have a say in Pack business.” Is the answer we get and I am glad I kept an eye on Maleah, or I would have walked into her.

Maleah slowly turns around and each and every one of us gulps as we see the look in her eyes, “Get some Warriors down here, the Bimbo is going to the dungeons.” Fortune growls and Titan is looking at our Mate in aww.

Maleah doesn’t instruct her team before she walks away and I wonder why but then again my Mate knows her team, I doubt they would need new orders. I couldn’t even come up with new orders if I had to, they know who can enter the room and even then I think one of them would follow them in. Just to make sure that one of our Alphas is awake or to keep an eye on things if they are all still asleep.

I drag my feet as we enter the house again, I know I need to tell them but I don’t want to. “Spil it, Beta.” Pauline says as she sits down on the couch, curling herself around Harvey. I slowly walk to the papers I left only fifteen minutes ago and I am hoping that it miraculously disappeared, but no such luck.

“There is a different pattern I found in the list, not one that is mentioned in the other folders on Caym’s laptop. I was going over the lists you gave me and I found the name of a Pup written in a different color. A year later the same thing happened and after writing down the fourth name I knew this wasn’t a coincidence.” I say as I pick op the list I made.

“This person bought a Pup on the same date every single year, there is no record of a Pup being returned to them and something tells me there wasn’t a Pup alive to be returned to them. Whether that was because they died or for another reason, I am not sure. The difference with this list is that none of those Pups received their so-called training and that has me believing that he trained them himself.” I say as I hand the list to Maleah.

Levi and Mack have her sandwiched between them again and I think it is the best decision they could have made. “Do you know who bought those Pups?” Maleah asks softly and I grab the list of buyers Caym kept on his laptop. Titan nearly forces a shift when we read the name of the male that bought these Pups and I know I am going to ask Maleah to help me find a very suitable punishment for this Asshole.

“Just promise me that we will come up with the right way and time to make him pay. I want to know what happened to those Pups and if any of them are still alive.” I say and I wait for her to make me that promise. “Elder Carlyle.” Is the answer I give her.
