Chapter 140

Mandy had no choice but to leave, gritting her teeth even as Jay looked on.

Even so, she always got everything she wanted!

The fashion gala began with the celebrities taking to the red carpet according to an arranged sequence.

Mandy would usually be arranged to take the stage early in such events, but thanks to her family’s influence, most event organizers would let her place later. Moreover, since Jessop Corp was one of the partners in this event, she was placed second last.

But when it was her turn to walk the red carpet, she refused, citing health reasons.

The red carpet was vacant for ten minutes, but the organizers could not force Mandy to do anything–no one would dare to provoke her given her family’s influence.

Having no choice, the organizers had to ask Zoe to save the day.

Zoe was no diva, and she agreed to it despite the obvious displeasure from Linda, her manager.

But just as she prepared to take the red carpet, she heard one of the crew members mention Mandy inadvertently.

So Mandy was planning to come last?!

Zoe promptly stopped and told the crew, “I can walk the red carpet, but the event must end once I’m done–no one is to come after me. That was what the organizers promised when I came!”

The crew did not dare to say yes, since they all knew that Mandy was faking discomfort to come last.

“This is not up for negotiation.” Zoe was determined.

Even Linda was surprised by Zoe’s determination, and she was actually pleased–she had to speak up for Zoe so many times, since Zoe had every right to throw her weight around.

Her kid was all grown up now.

She was the one who had been obstinate about getting into showbiz, even promising not to depend on the Levines.

The only person in the business who knew who she really was was Jay.

As such, she had no choice but to bear with this.

After she did a round on the red carpet, Mandy soon appeared at the entrance, smiling smugly. Once she entered, she slid beside Zoe, pausing beside her and saying spitefully. “I’m so sorry, Zoe. I didn’t want to take your spot, but I was feeling a little sick. You don’t mind, do you?”

“I don’t,” Zoe smiled faintly. “I mean, am I supposed to bite a b*tch after it bites me?” Mandy’s face fell.

Did Zoe just call her a b*tch?!

At the same time, Zoe scoffed. “Also, you’re in my way. Please move–good doggies always do, y’know?”

Mandy’s eyes flashed viciously right then and she suddenly fell to the floor, right in front of Zoe! As everyone looked on, Mandy looked at Zoe with a tearful, unhappy look. “You tripped me… But I never wanted to take your place…”
