Chapter 255

Cordy didn't think she would actually pass out. Even though she had been up almost the entire night and had overworked herself, she still thought she could endure it.

However, she fainted in front of Kyle, of all people.

The moment she collapsed, a bad feeling washed over her.

Zoe was waiting at home for Cordy to return from work. She had rescheduled all her work today and ordered a very nutritious meal from the best private chef in North City to give Cordy some well-needed supplements. Cordy seemed to have lost weight recently, and her wrists were so thin that it looked like they could easily break!

Zoe didn't know why her heart ached so much when she saw Cordy in this state.

Cordy was clearly a strong woman, tougher and more beautiful than Zoe. Yet, she was ill-fated. As the saying goes, the more beautiful you are, the more miserable your life is.

She waited until half past seven and started to get anxious as there was still no sign of the other woman. Cordy hadn't rested enough last night; surely she wasn't planning on working through the night, right?

Did Cordy think she was made of steel?

Zoe was furious at the thought and called Cordy, only to find that the latter had turned off her phone.

That was impossible!

Cordy's phone was always on; twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.

The possibility of it running out of battery was also off the table, as she was extremely cautious.

Zoe was impatient, and she wasn't one to sit around idly when she set her mind on something. Without thinking about it, she grabbed Cordy's car keys and drove straight to Starstream Group.

She rushed straight into Cordy's office once she arrived and threw open the door.

Vince was startled at the sudden intrusion. He had been helping Cordy sort through the internal requests on her computer, and was stuck on one he couldn't decide on. He had sent her a message, but didn't receive a reply and was about to call her when the door burst open.

When he saw who it was, he was even more shocked.

W-W-Wasn't that his favorite idol, Zoe York?! Was this real? Did he actually have the pleasure to see her up close and personal with his own eyes?

Vince didn't manage to say anything before she left. He had wanted an autograph...

Zoe got back into the car and called John as she drove out.

"John, Cordy's missing!"

John's slender fingers paused in his task. He asked harshly, ’What?"

"Cordy's missing! I was waiting for her at home for dinner, and she didn't come home! I called her, but her phone was turned off. I rushed to her office, and her secretary said she had already left work a while back and also said there were no business engagements tonight. Cordy doesn't have any other friends, John. She wouldn't have gone anywhere else-"

The call was cut off abruptly.

Zoe almost burst into tears when that happened, and she clutched her phone tightly.

Why did it feel like Cordy was always in danger?

God, please don't be too cruel to her!
