Noel was left frozen stiff for a moment, but she quickly changed her expression, looking miserable and teary-eyed.

“I’m so sorry,” she said. “I didn’t know you were allergic to lilies-I’ll be careful next time.”

“I’m not allergic to lilies-I’m allergic to you,” John said icily, every word a threat. “Just be careful not to show your face around me.”

Noel’s face abruptly turned pale.

She could not believe what she was hearing!
