Chapter 83

Cordy took Zoe to her apartment.

Zoe certainly was the type who fell asleep easily, and she dozed off the instant they got into the car. Unable to wake Zoe up, Cordy had no idea where to take Zoe since she did not know where Zoe lived.

Arriving at the parking lot below her apartment, it took Cordy some strenuous effort to get Zoe out of the car, up the elevator, and into her house, where she finally put Zoe on her bed.

Cordy had always lived alone, so there was only one bed despite there being two rooms.

Zoe comfortably tossed around in Cordy’s bed just then, sound asleep.

Cordy thought that she could just call in human traffickers to take Zoe away, and Zoe would be none the wiser.

Did Zoe just not care, or was she that trusting toward Cordy?

Taking a deep breath, Cordy made Zoe a glass of honey and put it on the nightstand while she took a bath.

Once she was done and stepped outside, she noticed that her phone screen was flashing since it was kept on silent.

She picked it up and answered it out on the balcony.

“You’re really understanding, aren’t you, Cordy?!” Kyle’s scoffing came from the other end. “Signing up Zoe York to endorse Starstream Fashion? What, does it feel that good, sharing a man with her?! You’re really disgusting!”

“I’ve never felt luckier when our wedding was called off,” Cordy simply retorted. It’d be a misfortune of a lifetime if I actually married you.”

“What gives you the right to criticize me?!” Kyle snapped in contempt. “Know your place! You got knocked up at eighteen without getting married, and you now share a man with another woman! You’re as cheap as you are filthy!”

“And you think yourself noble?” Cordy replied, not about to hold back against him. “Do you even consider how disgusting you were when you jumped into bed with Noel? You’re literally nothing good, but still act so high and mighty. But honestly, you’re not.”

“If you won’t accept my kindness, it’s pointless to talk to you further-”

“Don’t act like you’re being nice. You’re just jealous.” Cordy exposed Kyle right then.

“I’m jealous? Why would I be jealous of you?”

“Because all of Jessop Corp’s efforts to sign Zoe York as an endorser failed. You’re just hurting because you can’t accept that old little Starstream Fashion could sign her instead.”

“Finished your call?” she asked Cordy.

“You’re awake,” Cordy said.

“My head hurts.”

“Have some honey.”

“I did.”

“Then, take a bath… or would you rather I send you home?” Cordy asked.

“I’m sleeping here.” Zoe was determined.

As a matter of fact, she rarely stayed in North City since she was always filming on location. On the rare occasion she returned, she would just stay at hotels since the Levines had many of those.

This time, she only stayed at Levine Manor because her parents and Alan Levine threatened her, saying they would make her leave showbiz and work at Levine Ventures if she refused to stay home. As a free spirit who hated such a heavily regulated lifestyle, she thought she would lose her mind.
