Chapter 1040 Poisoned

After leaving the ship, Lizbeth, Walter, and the rest left alongside all the other tourists.

“Jared, aren’t your friends joining us?” Skylar asked in surprise when he saw Lizbeth and Walter leaving.

“No, they’ll just end up being a burden.” Jared smiled plainly.

Reading between the lines, Skylar cracked a grin. “In that case, let’s go.”

With Skylar and Karl walking in front and Jared following behind, the three of them set off for the depths of the island.

Taking out a geomantic compass, Karl began chanting.

Suddenly, his compass flew into the air and unleashed a faint red hue.

After spinning a few rounds, it began flying in the south-easterly direction.

“Quick, follow it.”

Barking out his instructions, Karl sprinted after the compass, with Skylar and Jared following closely behind.

After running for half an hour, the compass finally stopped and flew back into Karl’s hand.

“It’s here!” Karl declared as he scanned the surroundings.

“What in the world are you looking for?” Jared asked curiously.

With a narrowed gaze, Skylar replied, “We’re looking for the Flame Dragon. After you swallowed the Ice Dragon’s draconic essence, the island went through dramatic change, including the disappearance of the Flame Dragon. Therefore, we are now looking for it so that we can obtain its draconic essence.”

“Don’t tell me that you’re expecting me to fight the Flame Dragon? The Norton family has plenty of warriors who are stronger than I am,” Jared asked with a puzzled tone.

“Are you trying to nag me to death?” Jared taunted.

“What’s going on?” Skylar asked Karl with his brows furrowed.

Karl had obviously spiked Jared and Lizbeth’s drink. But now, Jared wasn’t affected by it at all.

“I don’t know. I’m certain that I had poisoned them.”

Karl was baffled as to why Jared wasn’t reacting to his poison.

The moment he heard what Karl had done to him, Jared’s expression drastically changed. “Who else did you poison?”

With the Focus Technique shielding him, Jared was immune to all poisons. However, the same couldn’t be said for others. If Lizbeth and the others were poisoned, their life would certainly be in danger.
