It turned out that not all of the men worked for the Rowling family.

Coby was beside himself with fury when he heard that.

 “You—”

At that moment, a cackle of laughter rang out. Then, Skylar and several others walked forward slowly with Skylar in the lead. 

“My men speak the truth. So what if you’re the Rowling family’s eldest son? Why does it matter to the Norton family whether you live or die?”

Coby was enraged when he saw Skylar there. “Skylar Norton, what do you mean by this? Didn’t we have a deal? We agreed to an equal share of the magical items we got!”

“Who the f*ck would want to share with you? We’re in Jadeborough now. It’s my territory, yet you still think of getting a share of the spoils? How delusional! Not only do I want all the magical items Jared has for my own, but I also want him dead!”

Realization finally dawned on Jared. So, among those that Coby brought, there are some who work for the Norton family. I can’t believe their two families teamed up to defeat me. But by the looks of it, Coby was tricked by Skylar.

Coby glared at Skylar furiously. “You’d better not regret this, Skylar. The Rowling family is no pushover. Even though we’re in Jadeborough, I still have ways of crushing the Norton family to dust!”

Skylar burst out laughing at Coby’s threat.

“You sure are amusing. Just look at the situation you’re in now. Do you still think you have a chance of walking away alive?”

Having said that, Skylar turned to Jared. 

“If you kill him now and kneel before me, I’ll grant you a swift death.”

Jared gazed at him grimly. Although this guy isn’t all that strong, he’s very conniving. It’ll be tricky to deal with someone like him. If he hadn’t deliberately exposed all my secrets on the martial arts forum, I wouldn’t be targeted by all these sects and families now.
