Cynthia and David paused their chess game. Cynthia put away the board and fetched an acupuncture kit to treat David’s leg 

Despite ongoing treatment, his age made a full recovery challenging. Fortunately, David maintained a positive mindset and was always cooperative during the sessions. 

At noon, Jasmine returned with seafood, saying she would make clam soup for Cynthia herself. After finishing David’s treatment, Cynthia helped Jasmine in the kitchen. 

Following lunch, the two elders returned to the Sullivan residence. With some free time, Cynthia decided to visit the hospital. 

That afternoon, Peace Hospital was relatively quiet. Gynthia reported to the director’s office and arranged her work schedule. 

By the time she emerged from the hospital, it was already three o’clock. As she was about to leave in a taxi she noticed Samuel exiting the hospital with thick gauze wrapped around his head. With a sullen expression, he strode forward aggressively, looking intimidating.

Hearing his name, Samuel looked up, his gloomy expression shifting to one of surprise. “Boss, why are you here!! 

So much time had passed since Cynthia last visited him that Samuel thought she had forgotten about him altogether. Samuel held deep admiration for Cynthia. Despite his imposing height of 5 feet 10 inches, be transformed into a loyal Lapdog in her presence. Passers–by who had been intimidated by Sammel’s earlier aurn now found him somewhat goofy. 

Cynthia paid no heed to the curious gazes around them as she focused on the gauze wrapped around Samuel’s head. “What happened to your head!” she asked.

Embarrassed, Samuel scratched his head, unsure of how to respond. 

In the past, he had approached Cynthia under Anthony’s orders. A few days ago, he had received a sudden message instructing him to stop following Cynthia. Assuming Cynthia had forgotten about him since it had been a long time since they last mes, he had returned to his previous job. Knowing Samurl was not one to back down from a fight, Cynthia remained silent. To prevent him from getting involved with those people again, she asked. “Are you currently employed!” 

Samuel shook his head. 

“Come to Larson Group tomorrow. I’ll arrange a job for you. Since you see me as your boss. Til make sure you’re on the right path. You can work at Larson Group without getting involved with those people anymore. Her expression was earnest and determined. 

Samuel stood stunned for a long moment. People like him had often been marginalized, avoided by others. The offer of a chance from someone like Cynthia was shocking to him. However, despite his gratitude, he couldn’t accept her kindness just yet. He looked away and quickly changed his response. “Boss, I already have a job.”

you do?” Cynthia pressed on for answers. 

Samuel hesitated. “Just running errands, and the salary is quite high.” 

Cynthia narrowed her eyes skeptically. “Bring me there to have a look.” 

Tm n just a handyman. There’s nothing to see, Samuel replied nervously. He indeed worked as a handyman, assisting Anthony with some illegal affairs. If Cynthia found out, she would undoubtedly be furious.

Cynthia sensed his unease and knew he was hiding something. Her expression turned serious as she repeated firmly. “Take me there” 

“But Boss Samuel murmured. 

“Hurry up,” Cynthia commanded 

Under Cynthia’s insistence, Samuel reluctantly led her to a bar where he and his associates frequently gathered. The place was a hub for their activities, with Samuel and his buddies on standby year–round, awaiting orders from their superiors

The security guard caught the signal and quickly adjusted his greeting from “Mr. Wilson” to “Sam.” He asked, “Sam, is your head okay? The boss said you could take a couple more days off. No need to rush back, we’ll cover your shift.” 

Samuel breathed a sigh of relief and replied with a meaningful tone. “Thanks, buddy. My boss cares about me and wants to see where I work. Go ahead, don’t worry about me.” 

“Sure, let me know if you need anything, the security guard replied. 

When the two finished exchanging pleasantries, Samuel turned to Cynthia “Boss, this is where I work. I was attacked by my former enemy here.” 

Cynthia looked around and assessed the simple bar. She thought, Since Samuel prefers not to work at Larson Group, as long as he behaves and works here responsibly, it should be all right. With that in mind, she nodded. “Okay. I trust you.” 

Cynthia was concerned about Samuel, especially since he had helped her a lot when dealing with Roseanne. Plus, knowing Samuel looked up to her, she felt a sense of responsibility for his well–being- 

At that moment, the staff were hustling around, getting ready for the bar’s opening. Realizing she would get in the way, Cynthia decided to leave “You should take it easy and rest while you’re injured. Don’t hesitate to call me if you need anything.” 

Samuel walked Cynthia to the roadside and flagged down a taxi for her. Once she was safely inside, he turned around. The security guard approached with a smile and asked, “Mr. Wilson, did I do well just now?” 

“Not bad. You’re sharp. Samuel complimented with a thumbs–up. The goofy demeanor he displayed before Cynthia earlier gave way to his usual seriousness. 

Suddenly, a group of people stored toward the previously quiet bar entrance. They were a Samuel with clear intent

Enduring the torturous night, he managed to escape, but not without sustaining severe injuries.
