Everly laid on the man's chest with her eyes half-open.

She was kind of puzzled hearing Maverick's question.

"Lonely? What kind of person do you think I am?"

"Don't get me wrong. I mean, did you ever think of that night in the past five years?" Maverick smiled.

Everly now undertook. Maverick was talking about their one-night stand. She blushed. It wasn't obvious thanks to the darkness. However, she couldn't hide the shyness in her voice. "I'm not going to think about that kind of thing all the time, come on! I am not you!"

She knew that she was lying.

She didn't think about that night on purpose. But she often dreamed about it.

Everly called them "wet dreams".

It was such an impressive night. She couldn't help recalling the excitement she had that night.

This was probably what people called "muscle memory".

Maverick pinched her earlobe, whispering, "I just thought of you."

Everly's heart beat faster.

Maverick went on teasing. "You are the only woman I ever have. To be honest, I was a virgin by that time too, although I believe you wouldn't have thought so. Yet it is the fact, Everly. In the five years that followed, I sometimes would think that our bodies fit well. It was a perfect night for me. I thought of looking for you but then I told myself it was just a one-night stand. However, now we are lying on the same bed and I finally understood. I should have found you earlier! I have missed a lot during these 5 years! How have you been all this time, Everly? Is life hard?"

"It isn't."

"Silly girl."

"I mean it. I admit I was a little lonely when I moved here with Edmond in my belly. But luckily, I met Jack." Speaking of this, Everly felt a sense of loss.

'Jack was such a nice person! But he doesn't exist anymore...'

She always remembered the place where she first met with Jack. The next day, after settling the two children, Maverick took Everly over.

She didn't think too much about it. But when they arrived there, she was stunned. The place looked completely different now.

The small alley was gone. Some of the coffee shops nearby had moved. Everly was a little helpless. "This place has changed. I can't find the exact location. Do you think Jack has something left for me?"

Maverick looked around and then said to Everly, "Tell me the approximate location. I'll help you find it."

Everly had a bad sense of direction, not to mention that the place had been redesigned. It took her great effort to recall an approximate direction.

"I'm not sure but I guess it should be here. Back then, this should have been a road. And in front of here was like an alley. And I remember there was a coffee shop run by an American woman."

Maverick nodded and led Everly forward.

The coffee shop had become a restaurant.

Maverick said, "Let's get in and ask about it."

The owner of the restaurant happened to be Chinese. Everly told him about the situation and asked him when the coffee shop changed into a restaurant.

The boss smiled and said, "In that case, you guys are not in luck. This place had become a restaurant for only a few months. There was a fire here two months ago, and this area was completely burned down. Later, this area was rebuilt. It was a quick project but it was not bad. And my restaurant had only opened for a month."

Everly felt a little scared, perhaps because she was too sensitive.

On the way back, Maverick also looked a little silent, not knowing what he was thinking.
