Everly was so tired last night that she leaned against the window of the children's room and fell asleep. When Edmond got up in the morning, he woke her up. Only then did Everly realize that she had slept like this all night.

"Mom, did you quarrel with dad again?" Edmond's words made Everly embarrassed.

Everly rubbed her stiff neck and ruffled Edmond's hair. She asked, "Do I often quarrel with others?"

Edmond blinked. Although he did not say anything, Everly could tell his thoughts from his eyes.

Everly was puzzled. After a while, she explained, "There was a storm last night. I was worried about you and Candy. I went to see if Candy was all right. Then, I came to you. I was exhausted, so I fell asleep by accident."

"Wasn't dad home? Where did he go? Wasn't he worried about us?" Edmond nodded and asked.

Everly had no idea how to answer him.

Since the communication was affected by the storm, Everly was anxious. She couldn't get any messages from Beth.

Her phone occurred to her mind.

Everly checked her phone and found it had run out of battery last night. She recharged the phone.

Then, she went to wash her face to refresh herself.

She turned her phone on and didn't see any messages from Maverick.

Everly gave Maverick a call. Surprisingly, Maverick's phone was turned off.

Everly felt increasingly upset.

With her hands on the sink, Everly took a deep breath. She tried to calm herself down. She thought, "It doesn't matter. Maverick is out of touch, but I can call Beth. Beth must have known if Maverick was safe or not. I can call Maverick's assistant as well.'

Beth's phone was on, but she did not answer it.

Everly did not give up and dialed Beth's number again.

A male voice was heard, "What's wrong with you?"

The man on the other end tried hard to control his anger, but he still sounded annoyed. He said, "It's early morning. Why are you calling? Is there anything urgent? If not, I won't let you off easily."

The male voice sounded familiar to Everly. She considered for a while and asked tentatively, "You are Lawrence, right?"

"Yes. Who are you?"

"I'm Everly. I'm sorry to have disturbed you." Although Everly was shocked at the beginning, she realized why the man was angry. The man probably was with a woman. That was why he shouted at Everly. The latter was not irritated at all. Instead, she felt at ease. She asked, "You are with Beth?"

There came Beth's voice from the other end, "Lawrence!"

Lawrence changed his attitude instantly. He said, "Aunt Everly, it's not convenient for Beth to answer the phone now. What's the matter? How about we call you back at noon?"

"Don't spank me! I'm not a child. Let me go."

"Behave yourself. I'm still mad at you."

It was likely that Lawrence had known what Beth had done last night.

Everly was embarrassed. Since she had disturbed them, she decided to continue to ask about the situation, "Has the matter been resolved? Are you all alright?"
