Alex just didn't want a stranger to hear their conversation and learn about Demi's relationship with the Pitt family. Otherwise, it would hurt Ana's feelings.

With that in mind, Demi looked at him with a disdainful look and said coldly, "Why don't we talk now, Mr. Pitt?"

Alex stopped in his tracks and turned around. Then, he said with a thoughtful smile, "There's no need for that. Go ahead and chat first. I'll be right outside, so don't worry about it."

"If you don't want to talk now, don't ever bother coming here again!" Demi was so cold she could freeze an entire lake with her attitude.

Hearing that, Alex was speechless. He took a deep breath and smiled again. "I've just returned to the country and wanted to invite you to a meal since we haven't seen each other in a while."

"Don't you know I've cut ties with your families?" Demi asked with a raised eyebrow. Her gaze was mocking.

Alex stayed silent for a moment before saying, "I've heard about it from Mom and Thomas. Regardless, I'm not the one who has hurt you, right? So, you can't just drag me into it as well." He put on a sincere and innocent look as he spoke.

"You've never hurt me, huh?" She raised her eyebrow again and said mockingly, "What about the way you treated me like a caretaker?"

Hearing that, Matt and Magaret looked at Demi in shock. They didn't understand what she meant by caretaker. After all, Alex said he was Demi's brother, so why would he treat her like she was a caretaker?

Then, Margaret put the pieces together in her mind. Alex was from the Pitt family, and he looked a little like Thomas. He also mentioned Thomas' name earlier, so Margaret figured they were siblings. With that thought in mind, she wondered if Demi meant that the Pitts treated her like a caretaker.

Demi was also Ana's assistant in the past. So, did that mean she had to serve everyone in the Pitt family as well?

"Also, stop thinking that you can clear up the pain you've caused me by saying everything was just a misunderstanding. Last but not least, don't think that I'll be grateful enough to forgive you just because you're acting high and mighty toward me."
