Matt chuckled. It turned out to be exactly what he expected.

"Don't worry. I'm not the type who would gossip around," he said with a smile.

However, he was just smiling out of politeness, and it didn't feel friendly in any way. After all, he didn't really like Alex and Thomas because of Demi.

"Thank you, Mr. Hahn," Thomas said gratefully and awkwardly.

"If there's nothing else, I shall take my leave now." Matt nodded at the two men before walking toward his car. The smile on his face faded away as well.

When Thomas and Alex returned home, it was already time for Dinner. Everyone in the Pitt family was there as well.

Stephen was on the couch, reading his newspapers. When he heard the two brothers entering the house, he turned to them and asked excitedly, "I heard you went out to visit Demi. How did it go?"

Michelle glanced at Abigail, who was busy in the kitchen. Then, she looked at Thomas and Alex in anticipation as well.

Thomas and Alex just exchanged glances before the former said disappointedly, "It didn't work out."

Stephen didn't react too much, but Michelle instantly looked disappointed. Then, she instantly became furious. "She hates us with all her guts now. Why didn't I notice how much hatred she had inside her?"

"Enough! Stop saying that. At the end of the day, you were the one who caused this. So, think of a way to fix it!" Stephen said coldly.

Suddenly, Ana exclaimed, "What happened to your face, Alex?"

Hearing that, everyone looked at Alex as well.

Alex's face was covered in ointment, so the small wounds looked really obvious. When they first came in through the door, no one could tell he was injured. However, when they got closer, everyone could tell Alex was hurt right away.

Alex instinctively touched his face and said, "I'm fine. I accidentally hurt myself. Is dinner ready? Let's dig in now. Thomas and I are famished."

"Demi, tell me how was your life when you were staying with the Pitts. You told me you were doing fine back then and told me not to worry about you. So, what's this about them treating you like a caretaker?"

After Matt left, Margaret couldn't wait to ask Demi the questions on her mind anymore.

Meanwhile, Demi kept quiet after being asked a series of questions. She didn't want to let Margaret find out about the truth at all. However, she still couldn't hold herself back from spilling everything in front of Margaret earlier.

However, she figured it wouldn't be that bad at all. Otherwise, she would have to keep feeding the lies nonstop. After all, if the Pitts kept coming for her, there was no way she could hide it forever.

So, she brought Margaret over to a chair and told the latter what had happened in the past. Timothy just crouched in a corner with a Rubik's cube in his hand. However, his hands kept pausing from time to time.

"So… Are you saying that they love someone else's daughter more than you while treating you like a caretaker?"
