Demi didn't say much, only giving a barely perceptible nod. She didn't want this fact to get out either.

Benedict's eyes widened in surprise. He had guessed as much but was still taken aback when Demi nodded. He wanted to ask more, but there were so many people around. Hence, he held his tongue.

Millie and Carson had mixed feelings. On one hand, Benedict had indeed become more energetic after wearing that emerald ring, so it was likely the ring's effect. Yet, they couldn't understand how an emerald ring could boost someone's energy like that.

Demi had bought a lot of things before she knew it. Felix stepped forward, offering to carry her bags.

"No need. I can manage," Demi quickly declined. She didn't dare boss around someone like Felix.

"It's alright. I'm not buying anything anyway. Let me carry them so you can keep looking," Felix insisted.

Demi shook her head and replied, "It's okay."

As they went back and forth, Benedict couldn't stand it anymore. "Demi, just let him carry them. A young girl like you shouldn't be lugging around so many bags while a grown man walks empty-handed. What would others think?"

Demi thought for a moment, then handed over her bags.

Benedict smiled approvingly, then suddenly remembered something. "Demi, that thing you said during the show. Was it true?"

Demi looked at him, puzzled. "What thing?"

"When you said this guy was the best-looking and even told him 'I love you'!" Benedict reminded her.

Demi was speechless.

Felix glanced at Demi, studying her expression.

"That was just part of the game! Plenty of guys said 'I love you' to me too," Demi explained, laughing awkwardly.

"But you said he was the best-looking, even better than those male celebrities. That part was true, right?" Benedict pressed.

His "I heard you" was probably just a polite response.

...

It was already past 11:00 pm in Lynora City by the time Demi got home.

Margaret and Timothy were waiting for her in the living room. Demi handed out the gifts she'd bought them.

As she passed the gift to Timothy, she noticed a few red marks on the back of his hand, like scratches from someone's nails.

"Did someone bully you?" Demi grabbed his wrist, frowning as she examined his hand.

Timothy shook his head and quickly pulled his hand back, hiding it behind him.

Demi's frown deepened. She didn't say anything more but decided to head to his school and investigate tomorrow.
