Erika continued to sob uncontrollably, refusing to answer the young female officer's questions.

"We'll conduct separate interrogations. Also, write down your parents' contact information—we need to notify them," the middle-aged male officer said sternly.

Demi paused, then responded calmly, "I'm an orphan. Can we skip calling guardians? Besides, I didn't commit any crime."

"You assaulted someone. That's illegal," the officer countered sharply.

Demi blinked in disbelief. "Erika was inciting gang rape against me. Slapping her twice seems more than justified, no?"

"Self-defense is one thing, but we'll need to determine if your response was excessive," the officer replied impassively.

"Fine. I don't have parents. What now?" Demi asked.

"Your teacher, then. And we know you have a grandmother," the female officer interjected.

"She's over 80 and doesn't even speak Cartroan. It's useless for you to get my grandma here," Demi said before she paused. "Would my neighbor work? He's also my school-appointed guardian."

The officers exchanged glances before nodding. "Okay."

Demi wrote down Felix's number.

"I've liquidated all my shares in Pitt Group."

"I've terminated our contracts with them too."

"Me too. Stephen and Daniel have come looking for me several times, but I've refused all meetings."

"Word is they're seeking partners outside Lynora City now. Should we intervene, Felix?"

"My contact in Hodgetown told me the Pitts wanted to work with him. He asked for my opinion."

His friends reported to him between sips of aged whiskey and cigar smoke swirls.

"That's classified," Felix replied with a faint smile.

The room erupted in groans.

The person who was earnestly looking at Felix was Claire's nephew, Matthew Hort.

Felix looked at him and replied, "I'll ask for you when there's an opportunity."

Just then, Felix's phone rang. An unknown number flashed on the screen.

He answered the call hesitantly.

"Hello, this is Zenith Police Station," the person on the other end said.

Within seconds, Felix was on his feet and striding toward the exit.
