"And did any of you ever ask if I could adapt to this sudden change? I had to leave my grandma and brother and move into a strange house. A house that didn't even want me there. When I cried in secret, did anyone notice? Oh, wait. You didn't care, did you?" Demi let out a faint, mocking laugh.

"If even one of you had thought about me just once, I wouldn't be this disappointed in all of you." Her gaze hardened, turning sharp as a blade.

"I did some calculations. The money the Pitt family spent on me, combined with the so-called 'debt' I owe Mr. and Mrs Pitt for giving me life, is roughly equal to what I earned working as your housekeeper. So let's just call it even.

"From this moment on, we're done with each other. And as for Ms. Pitt, I'm so grateful for all the villain roles she recommended to me. To show my appreciation, I'll make sure to send her some excellent villain roles in the future if I happen to come across any.

"Not that she'll need them, of course. After all, she has all of you protecting her, ensuring she never lacks opportunities. Unlike me, of course. I have no father, no mother, no one to back me up. Such a pity. I guess I'll just never be able to repay her 'kindness.'"

Demi could sense it, the faint, lingering thread of connection that still existed between her and Stephen and Michelle.

Typically, the bond between parents and their children was meant to be deep and unbreakable. But the fact that she had once died because of their actions had weakened that connection.

And as for that thin and fragile thread? One day, she would find the right opportunity to sever it completely.

The Pitt family remained silent.

"Annie didn't intentionally recommend you for villain roles. It was the directors who thought you were a good fit. Annie couldn't influence their decisions. Don't think so badly of her," Michelle said, her tone earnest.

Hearing this, Demi felt a surge of anger rush to her head, boiling over.

"Oh? So what you're saying, Mrs. Pitt, is that I look like a villain? You know, several people have told me I bear some resemblance to you. Tell me, do I look like a villain because I resemble you?" Demi's voice was cold.

She vividly remembered overhearing a conversation between a director and Ana some time ago.

The director had initially considered Demi for a kind character, but Ana had suggested that Demi would be better suited for a vicious villain role.

Her voice grew louder. "That would make it seem like I have to rely on Ana's charity to survive! That's absolutely unnecessary! I already died once because of you people, and I have no intention of dying a second time!"

"Demi, you've been going on about 'dying' this and 'dying' that for a while now. But aren't you alive and well? What exactly are you doing here? Are you trying to guilt-trip us?

"You know, we haven't even asked you yet—why didn't you let us know that you're alive? Do you have any idea how long we searched for you and how much pain we went through?

"Mom cried her eyes out, her face swollen from all the tears! And now, this is how you treat us? Every word from you is filled with accusations like you're determined to blame us for your so-called 'death!'"

Harold stepped forward with a deep frown, his expression stiff with disapproval.

Demi stood still, her expression unreadable. Then, slowly, she smiled. She wasn't sure what other expression would even fit the situation.

"So, Mr. Harold, what you're saying is that I owe all of you an apology?"
