Cathy's voice was so loud that my eardrums were about to burst.

She acted like she actually owned this place.

And I was nothing but a filthy rat who tried to break in.

I could hear all the mocking, and laughings from the guests:

"So he's living off his parents and brother, and he's a creep too? Damn, that's sad."

"You know his type, those shameless people. They are just parasites."

"Yo, Mr. Outlaw! The owner of the house will be here any second now, don't act dumb if you don't want your ass kicked!"

"Yeah, he would probably bury you in the back yard, and nobody would ever find out."

These demon in human disguise leashed out all of their negative energies on me, even though they didn't even know me.

But ignoring other people was another thing I learnt from my five years in prison, so I hardly felt anything when I heard those harmful words.

Not only that, but when I realized I was wealthy enough to do basically whatever I want, I found myself confident than I ever was, so stuff like this could't really get to me.

I looked to Cathy, and smiled:

"There are a few things I need to clarify, First of all, I had no intention of following you two, like why would I want to follow two cockroaches around? Second, and I will say this one last time, the only thing I got locked up was because I covered everything for you husband. Third and last, did you tell them that I bought the house that you're living in? So who's living off who?"

I was certain that my words did something, because judging by their looks, the table had turned.

They turned to stare at Cathy.

"Stop... stop bullshitting, that house belonged to Ethan! I don't know what you're talking about!"

I replied with a smirk:

"Hey, chill out. Just check your mailbox when you get home today, the lawyer's letter should be arriving any time today. I truly hope you can act like this in court."

Ethan, who had been silent the entire time, finally spoke out impatiently.

"Daniel, we are a family, do you really have to make things ugly?"

It's funny when that word came out of his mouth, he'd call us family, but refused to recognize me as his older brother, how ironic.

So I said: "Family, such a big word, am I right? Did you think about "family" when you insisted of kicking me out? Did you think about "family" when your wife insulted me right in front of your face? Now I've become a threat to you, I'm your family now? Ok, I think I know where this is going. So whenever you can benefit from me, we are family, but when you can't, we are no longer family, did I get it right?"

As any therapist would say, letting it all out would usually help, but in this case, I felt more heartbroken every time I spoke. I just could not figure out, how could he turn from a kid who would always follow me around to a back-stabber like this.

I looked at her like I was watching a clown's show at a carnival:

"Whatever you think."

I looked to Lila, spoke politely: "I'm sorry Lila, my arrival seemed to have ruin your party, you guys have fun, I'll see myself out."

I turned around and exited the door.

Ethan stormed out of the house, and blocked my way, I could not tell whether he was exhausted from the run or he was simply terrified, his face was almost as pale as a skeleton:

"Hey, Danni- brother, what is going on here?"

How ironic, I'm his brother again.

All the arrogance and cockiness vanished in his eyes. For one second, I almost thought my cute little brother was back. But my brain dragged me back to the reality, he was never following my steps, he was just relying on me.

So I looked at him, and said to him coldly:

"I'm not your brother, I'm a criminal for life, I do not deserve to be your brother."

I went past him and left.
